Our NUF is turning 2 on the 21st of October and we have come together again to host a celebration for all to enjoy! This time we would to like invite everyone to join us in preparing for this event to make it even more special. Be it lurkers coming over from reading novels on NU or just your average stalking member, all are welcome to join in our events. Events Events will be held for both teams and individuals so we can get as much people to join the celebration! These are the events that we have planned so far. These are subject to change and we are open to suggestions. Details of the events will be released throughout the month. The list is as follows: Timeline overview. We will ask 40-50 volunteers to hide an image and write a clue that describes that member. They can either hide it in a spoiler in the About Me section of their profiles or to make it even more challenging they can hide it in any of their profile or thread posts [they can include that in the clue]. Details Details The events held will be mainly for teams but individuals will have the chance to participate as well! For now we are putting together confirmations of interest and the teams for the events! Teams: Will consist of 5 people maximum. (TBD) Group yourselves into 5-member teams and assign a Team Captain and Vice [preferably from different timezones] If you want to join a random team, let us know and we'll help find a spot for you. Each team will have a team color which will be assigned to them at registration [you can just number yourselves for now]. Points will be earned by each team as they complete the activities but the team with the most points at the end of the competition wins. Individuals: For those who just like working by themselves Will be awarded points separately to the teams. There is no deadline for registration for participants in the individual section but you will need to register for certain events when the time comes. Registration of Interest Team events registration will be open from today till Sunday 3rd of September 12am UTC -12. The events will start on Monday 4th of September and run till October 21st. Individual events have different registration dates so please make sure to check the dates to join in. Other Events We will also be hosting other events that are not part of the competition: Debate It has started! Commences 8th Sep and runs to 21st Oct. Please register your interest for the debate. Whether or not we go forth with this event will depend on whether we have enough people to make up two 3-member teams and volunteers to host and judge this. @kyuukestu is the host for this event. Each team alternates posts: Opening Statements: 500 words maximum Rebuttals, Cross-examinations, etc: 250 words maximum Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 Closing Statements: 300 words maximum The rules would be as follows: There is a maximum word count per post (e.g. 300 words). Please post the word count with every post. This is analogous to having a timer in a formal debate. The individuals on a team cannot post twice in a row. Everyone on their own team must go before they can post again. This is to prevent one single individual from dominating the debate. Topics to choose from: Is it better to be a public otaku or a "closet otaku" (who hides their interests)? Should NUF ban clone accounts? E-books or physical books?
