First of all, congrats to the other winners, @Siostar and @J-Mitch! Secondly, I am very happy to have won. I wasn't expecting it, and it was a very nice surprise upon finding out.

I can see from the table that it was a very close win among the participants, so really, wonderful works and great job everyone!

@Pyoo Your response isn't too unexpected, since I myself thought it would be a hit or miss poem with the take I had on the theme. As for the message, it's simply a presentation of a situation, where a creature encounters another creature, while both have a natural disposition to be on opposite sides, but rather than engaging in slaughter, let the chance slip by and go their own ways. I.e. a chance encounter, that normally would have produced a large effect, not creating anything and instead each going their own ways.

@BlancFrost It's great that the poem appealed visually to you as I tried convey the places and imply the change in seasons (not sure if anyone got that part since it was really subtle). Also that that line did not become overbearing to you. I was afraid it might since it seemed borderline already, but I needed it for the last stanza, as you figured it out.

@Action I'm happy that you discovered those parts, I intended for those to be a contrast. It took me a while to get that stanza done because I couldn't find the right words to compose that line at first. Part of my idea, my take of the theme was a flash of inspiration when I read about the contest. In the beginning I was going to make the snake eat the crow, but as I wrote, I felt it was too expected and as I thought about the message I wanted to convey, I got a new idea and changed it. So I wrote as if the snake would eat the crow at the end, building up everything, but did not make it happen.

Thanks to the judges for the commentary, it was very insightful! And I hope to participate in another poem event again~

Honestly, this is only my second time writing a poem, so I'm not hoping to win.

I didn't thought there'll be individual scores as well, but that's exactly what I'm hoping for, it helps knowing what I'm good and bad at.

So the first thing I need to improve is flow...
Then perhaps rhyming, kind of hard.

Also I saw that I wrote 'way' as 'why'....^_^;;;

My spelling left me after a while...mm the changing seasons was subtle and I don't remember if I picked up on it. Most likely not because I was more focused on the flow and imagery.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! We were happy so many participated in the event and it was a good way to showcase so many different styles and types of poems everyone did \o/
