They didn't. I mean, this isn't a remake. It's a new movie loosely based on the original tale of Mulan. It has basically zero connection to the original Disney film.
The poll was mine. Lol. My thread got merged with yours. AND I DONT EVEN GET ANY CREDIT. Just have to say. DID YOU NOT SEE CINDERELLA? The live action for that was fucking amazing. It surpassed the original on so many levels!
I'm cautiously optimistic. The list of stars to play in it from fandom includes some of my favorites: Gong Li, I had a giant crush on her after her role as a tragic empress in Curse of the Golden Flower Donnie Yen, solid acting with the exception of Ice Man 1 and 2, those were some hard movies to get through, but that was more the script's fault than his acting ability Jet Li is going to play the emperor. I wonder if this means the live action's emperor will get some action scenes? The last time he played as an emperor was back in The Mummy 3 where he was criminally underused in my opinion. Tzi Ma will play Mulan's dad. He was in Agents of SHIELD and Once Upon a Time. I don't think those were reoccurring roles?
I want to be optimistic but I really didn't like that teaser. I'm glad it isn't a straight remake since I would prefer something closer to the original tale even if I love the animated film. But I'm not happy about how the teaser make it seem more like wuxia than a war story, and I sure as hell won't watch this with english voices.
How did Fah Mulan convince the soldiers and officers of the Chinese Army that she was a man? Spoiler She pretended to be Fah Ping. I hope they keep these names in the new movie
+1 too english voices.. they're kinda awkward... is it just me or the teaser really feels like its lacking something? except for mushu.. he's really not there
