Even knowing you're partially joking, actually I kind of agree with them. We are living in a world that each subsequent generation cares less about following the general consensus. My generation was all about rebelling against the establishment. And taught our kids to do just that. Now they are having kids and doing the same thing. Do you honestly think it wont have horrible consequences? Case in point. Corporal punishment (spanking) is being phased out. In most cases it's called child abuse anymore. Sweden did the same thing back in the 60's. Today most classrooms have to lock up all the school supplies because the kids would chew them up and spit them at each other. I can't say I saw it for myself, be then again I hope I could trust it coming from their teachers... now the sad part is we are heading the same way. So tell me, how is this not a downward spiral?
Yes and no? I mean the observation might be correct, but the bias in the observation does tint to different kind of results. It's hard to say what is good and what is bad unless you look back in time to conceptualize the results. End of the day, humans survived somehow for thousands of years of these kind of changes. Some are negative, some are positive. But darwinism solves these things in the long run. End of the day, I don't think anyone can disagree that we are better off now than 5000 years ago. Overall, my belief is this. It is the role of young people to change the world and the role of old people to make sure the change doesn't happen too fast (and result in unforeseen consequences). Both are necessary for society to progress, because a stagnant society will also collapse.
Feels like a redundant thing to do as old people hating kids is like they hating their past selves. All old people were kids before and all kids will be old people in future (assuming the kids survive till old age LOL)
