I looked but couldn't find any not from the translator/editor about this. I checked and the older chapters are still up, and this is a new translation and not an edit. I wonder why they felt the need to translate old chapters.

The old TL's are going to take down their version? They are testing the capabilities of a new TLer? It's odd though that they didn't start with chapter 1.

 

They redoing the old ones whilst feeding those whom are current a bone?

Yes, I believe so. The author used key, and she(translator) said this is literally the phrase the author used. I thought about editing it to “steering yoke” or “joystick “, but the context is obvious so I let it be.

Also, I thought about how on high performance racing cars, the driver uses a detachable steering wheel, which I believe also unlocks the motor, so it fits the ink black dragon.

Oh, I know people are unhappy about “ink black dragon”, but the translator tells me that Sang Hyuk’s ship literally translated means “ink stick dragon”... the ink stick used to make Chinese ink for calligraphy.

Translator preferred “Ink Black”. I gave her a choice of “ink black” “ black ink” and “black dragon”.

I wouldn’t know...I’ve never seen or read One Piece.

 

Well final decision is obvious up to you and the tl. but from a native English speaker that sounds odd. It's kinda like how some cultures you say your family name then your given name but in others you say your given name then your family name.
You get your point across either way but depending on the culture/country it doesn't flow as well and sounds weird.

Another example would be the sentence “I took my dog to work.” but then Changed it to “I took my work to dog” one sounds right and one does not.


To clarify I’m not trying to change your mind just wanted to let you know of a probable reason to why some people aren’t happy with the decision

 

The guideline i use is making sure it reads well, and readers will enjoy. However, I work with a translator who is more familiar with Korean, than English. So I do in fact extensively rewrite it for the audience. I try to keep the exciting encounters and battles, and conciseness and brevity in expositions. So because I do an extensive rewrite, when the translator insists on a point, she gets her way. I trust that the readers are used to Asian stories, and accept the transliteration.

 

Finally a new chapter and the translator almost forgot about this novel

I’ve just finished editing a chapter. It needs to be checked by the translator, and then it will be posted. I’m hoping that the humorous bits I added are funny...
