Original Novels (Royal Road Legends)

Hey, I wonder if any of you read the original novels from RoyalroadL, if so, which one did you read,
and what do you like the most?

My own reading list:
- Life in new world(olyver) ~ No freaking updates in months
- Don't fear the Reaper(sturmwalzer) ~ Great story, a bit dark. I like it that way, as it is realistic
- Random Wanderer(neroborj) ~ The story is so-so, not very interesting, not too boring either. At least it's readable
- Forgotten Conqueror(Za1d3) ~ One of my favourites
- Polymath Redux(HiDrangeA) ~ reminds me a bit of Overlord. Nice story
- Re: Ocean(Greydragon) ~ nonsensical main character in a nonsensical world. the story of the first main character's struggles are great, but he becomes an asshole to the second one later on.
- Re: Labyrinth(Greydragon) ~ By the same guy, but the story is much more grim, dark and serious as compared to its progenitor. You can see the main character actually trying his best to survive.
- Re: Hamster(Jormlung) ~ Grim, dark meets nonsensical. The main character's mind is twisted, and he corrupts the world and marks his slaves. the hero appears, but she isn't as pure as she look either.
- Spectral Regalia(Zephon) ~ The grammar is a bit bad, but the story is great.
- Change: New World(Lvl1Slime) ~ Similar to Suterareta Yuusha no eiyuutan, but i like it more
- Falling Star of Evolution(Karnage) ~ Just finished reading to the latest chapter, already a favourite. The characters are well written, for my standards.

Well, these are all I can remember for now. If you are also listing original stories, it doesn't have to be from RoyalRoadL.

Just started reading Blue Phoenix.
Im kinda wondering though. Any chance of getting original novels on novel updates? It would make it much easier to find new stories to read.

 

I thought about reading some of them but haven't gotten to it yet. but how often do those update? and how long are they (# of chapters, and length of chapters) ? I really like reading good and long stories that take a lot of time

If original novel is what I think then you should try The Six Gemstones on novelnao. Awesome piece, though a little bit messy.

 

Depends, in most cases Chapters are around 3k words or longer, rarely see shorter chapter. There are some stories like Falling star of Evolution (also one of my fav stories on the site) and Polymax Redux that update at least twice a week, if there is no big exam coming up for the Authors.
But you can not really generalise here, some Stories update daily, others once every few Months.

a dragon gnawing it's tail is good it's about a king who to kill the big bad guy ended up in a kind of coma and wakes up 500 years later, good story with memorable characters and good humour

 

Novelupdates was designed to accomodate translated novels from JP/CN/KR, and is essentially a novel translations community. I wouldn't expect any original functionalities in the future.

I'm not reading anything on royalroadl but if I run out of things to read, it's probably the first place i'll look.

Never got around to reading it since for some reason i dont want to start lol

I went to read it multiple times and each time i end up going MEEEH and not going through with reading it and honestly i dont know why lol

so in all honesty i cannot promote something i have yet to read, im sure its great just i havent read it yet

 

It just seemed odd to exclude it, so I was kind of curious why. Also I struggle on how it compares to the other ones. I feel like if I were to look at them the story-telling gets better so Until Death < Transcendence < Beyond. Since they all have the same characters though it's hard to say their really different stories.

 

you see while I like the story, the main character seems to treat VR as a new life, he takes the game FAR too seriously

I would especially recommend The New Journey of an Old Soul - It is, in my opinion, one of, if not the best, stories on RRL. It has great pacing, action, and character development. The grammar is great, too! The only problem is its release speed, but that's because the author takes time, and isn't a shit-producing machine like that Monsterlord or that one vrmmo in real life shit story that got really popular for some reason.
