I would recommend you "Worm" -> https://parahumans.wordpress.com . I just finished reading it 2 weeks ago and it was intense. About the universe: It is a superhero universe where powers starts appearing "out of nowhere" (there is a reason, with hints along the way but it only get explained almost in the end) and these powers doesn't really affect humanity in a good way. There is more villains and bad people than heroes, there is an behind the scenes organization manipulating a lot of things in the world and there are 3 supposed immortal creatures that periodically attacks the big cities arround the wolrd, forcing heroes and villains alike to band together and fight them to minimize the damage they cause and help in the evacuation (focus on the minimize, cause they never got even close to defeating them), so the wolrd is in more or less dire circustances that gets worse by the day. About the MC: The MC is a high school girl whose mother died recently and still have to deal with constant bullying at school. She awakens the power to control insects at a specially bad bullying episode and start dreaming of being a hero and helping people despite her apparent weak power. She creates a custome for herself and goes out for a test drive. In her first day out in costume shit happens and she is mistaken as a villain by the villains, but come clean with the chief local hero (and he alone), and then she have the brilliant idea "hey, the villains think I am one of them, why don't I join them undercover for information and reveal their secret opperations to the heroes? I would make a name for myself and make my debout as a hero with a bang. What could go wrong?", well, I won't give any more spoilers (everything I said is pretty minor or in the very very begining), but a lot of things go wrong kkk. The story is just amazing. It gives a new light to the superhero scene, where the villains almost always acts on self interest and not some idealistic bullshit, society sucks bla bla bla. Even a lot of the heroes don't have this idealistic shit, they just want to use their power without being a criminal and still get paid for it. The universe is well built, and the powers have their limitations and "laws" by wich they work, there are some powers that are useless and some that makes the person almost invencible. There are a lot of characters introduced and they all have their personality and charisma, the story is separeted in arcs and in each arc there is at least 1 chapter that is writen in a different character point of view. And least the story is heavy. It shows many times how things get shitty because of egoistical people and shittier still because of good people that do noting to help. So, I super recomend, this was one of my beast reads so far, sorry if I wrote something wrong or that doesn't make sense, english is my second language and this is the first time I write this much about something that makes me really excited so it is prone to have mistakes
