I've been told about this one too, plus not to sleep with ur head facing the window either. Reason being ur soul will leave ur body easier
Rub someone's bald head for good luck. So stupid, does that good luck come in the form of a fistcake to the face?
Do not point at the moon or you will get a cut behind your ear/your finger will break, this is one stupid superstition among the chinese...
Not exactly superstitious but I do have my own little jinx of some sort, and some traditions/superstition family follow
We have the same superstition but instead of the moon its the rainbow (poor rainbow ). Our elders would tell us to bite the finger that we used to point to reverse the curse.
Oh yeah I heard rainbow before too >_> Stupid superstitions, even as a kid I didn't believe it, I just point at it to prove I'm fine xD
Don't watch TV while it's thunderstorming outside. Does that count as superstition or should I provide another?
if the lightning strike is far away from home but near the power-lines leading to your home, the current can enter your home through the lines, and through the plugs connected to the sockets, and to the equipment/appliance that is connected which can damage your appliances.
In our country it would mean that the departed soul of our love ones is visiting/reminding us to pray for them.
Okay another one. If a snake enters your home, you have to ask it nicely to leave by greeting it like you would a person. If it leaves immediately, then it's a good snake and you should let it go. If it doesn't, then you should kill it. This is based on the local superstition that djinns and bunians (something like invisible elves) can disguise themselves as all kinds of creatures and often accidentally crossed over to our dimension. If it doesn't leave after your greetings, then it's a real snake. Kill it.
For the thing about pointing at the moon and getting a cut in your ear, it's funny because it actually happened to my older brother way back. He pointed at the moon once, and my mom got really mad at him. Next day while he was roughhousing with my other brother, he got kicked in the ear and it ripped (not that bad tho). Spooky, ain't it? Lol
It happened to me too, except less dramatic. The day after I had cuts under my ears and from then onwards I always made sure to wash under my ears with soap
in asian country (especially ASEAN region) there are alot of superstitions. even a religion teaching can change because of superstition.
Somebody killed my cat because of that one but we couldn't discover who did it ;-; Welp... In my country, if a black/dark grey big butterfly visits your room, either you or somebody close to you will die soon
When I was younger, any time we drove by a graveyard we would hold our breath. It's kind of a respect for the dead/don't breath in their souls type of thing. I'm curious where you're from because not many people in the US even know the term ASEAN.
