when I install graphic card to motherboard, my PC cant turn on. not even on BIOS. no beep or fan spinning. only by removing graphic card my pc can turn on. so which one is cause the problem?or how to check it? the motherboard? power supply?graphic card? I got no friend that got PC to test the part. edit: I have been use it for about 1 years something so i doubt its something about not enough power
What GPU? What motherboard? What power supply? If you don't give more details, a vague question like this will have vague/guessing answers only.
It could be a couple of things, Is your power-supply good enough to power everything in the system? You want it to exceed the minimum requirements by at least 50 wwats. Check to make sure the prongs aren't damaged on the video card. Outside of that, your only option is to try a different video card.
1) You may not have enough power for the graphics card. 2) The weight of the graphics card may be pushing down on the motherboard causing a short. (You can try setting it up outside the case, or try lifting the graphic card while)
You should check whether your GPU is compatible with your MB and if your power supply is strong enough.
It should be the power supply. Your video card should have a 4 - 6 pin slot somewhere on its edge. Check to see if your power supply has this adapter on one of its cords. If it doesn't, then your power supply is too old. If it does, plug it in and see if the computer boots. If the computer still does not start, your power supply doesn't give out enough juice. I mean, short of dropping it, the only real way to kill a new video card is static electricity, but I'm assuming you aren't wearing a wooly sweater and rubber shoes that were scuffed on a full plush carpet. Yes, it would be great if you unplugged the computer power card and touched a metal panel to discharge yourself before installing the card, but there's some tolerance there. If it goes into the motherboard slot, then you almost have full support for the card. All that's left is the power supply.
Many graphics cards require additional power to be plugged into it. Does this one have a power plug and is it plugged in? Also please answer bob3002's question. We need additional info to troubleshoot this.
If you just bought the graphics card, it's possible it's dead on arrival and needs to be replaced by the people you bought it from. Another possibility is your power supply can't handle the load. If you really don't have another computer to test it on there is not much you can do.
It can if the power supply doesn't have enough wattage. Age has nothing to do with it. Price is the main factor. Generally, cheaper power supplies sacrifice wattage or regulation ability. Most modern video cards ask for 600W and above, minimum. If your power supply runs at 300W, which can be had for like $25-$50, it's not going to work. Anyway, best bet is to buy a replacement part from Amazon or some other company with a really good return policy and try installing that. If it works, then your previous card is defective. If it doesn't, just return saying it doesn't work.
