    he's looking for someone to save a woman from some deathzone kind of area that he himself has no guarantee of getting through. When he broke that boulder that measured skill talent, he believed that he found someone that could become the one to save her. Although he's still 'testing' him by seeing how he overcomes adversity.

    No, he just found out that was the reason. Now he still needs to become stronger before he attempts to do so. We're now at an arc where he enters the sacred grounds (one step higher cultivation area) might take a couple hundred more chapters. Since that senior brother is a martial highness and can't do it himself. (emperor -> dominator -> highness) so you can see he's a bit off from strong enough, although he does have the mastery of skills that's monstrous which could compensate a bit.
