Although I'm not yet completely caught up, I did notice a juicy tidbit that the author put on the series' page. The simplest answer is that there's only going to be one ML. I've read up to chapter 47 and there's still no hint or allusion to that at all and I am going crazy trying to connect the dots.

It's related to the concept of three hun (immortal souls) seven po (earth souls). Apparently the three MLs are each one hun of the founder of the world and the founder split his souls in three in order to go through a period of tribulation where he gains experience of the dao.
And also apparently, the three sould will become more and more alike until they merge into one and there's a chance that the merged ML will lose his love for Jiang Yinghe.

To be honest, while there's the yandere and tragedy tags on the novel on novelupdates I don't really think that it's particularly tragic (or maybe I'm just too biased from reading 2ha and Yu Wu haha) nor do I think that the MLs are particularly yandere. Possessive sure but not really yandere. Though that's just my personal opinion.
