I just can't imagine the logic behind it.
Are people so afraid of having nothing to use when something specific is needed?
What about clothes? I know extras are fine but bringing as much as twice the amount of clothes when you're only there for a few days??? Isn't washing some not possible for emergencies?
Also, what about household stuff. And canned goods (when you even have a place to stay). and this and that. :blobdizzy:

Bruh I sometimes bring over my PS4 when we're just going to rest at a hotel for one night.

They want to feel at home when not home? They were inspired by tortoises and snails? Are they simple ensuring nothing important is stolen if their house is broken into during their absence?

Here’s the thing. You can deal with complications when your prepared, but if your missing something. Than your SOL. It’s always better to overestimate than to underestimate. Believe me arriving somewhere with no Toilet Paper. Is A Big Deal. At least that’s what I think

I think it's about the quarantine?

Me and my family planned to go to the canada before, because we want to send my grandpa to my uncle, thinking of treating his heart disease.

But because of covid, they were hesitant.

There are too many test, permists, and they said that you have to stay in quarantine area in Canada for two weeks before leaving the airport.

We just plan to send my grandpa there and plan to go home immediately, but because of those quarantine protocols, we threw that thought aside since my grandpa seemed okay anyway. We just stayed. In the house.

If we really go, then we have to stayed quarantined longer than staying in the country itself. It's two weeks, quarantined in Canada and two weeks again in my home country. Man, no thanks. Hahaha...

I still travel. My last trip was for my sisters wedding. And there was no way I was missing that. The protocols are the same for residents as well as travelers. Besides my sister had her wedding. Out in the middle of nowhere. It was a beautiful vineyard by a lake. Looking across fields and fields of wheat. It was amazing.

I did over pack, but at least I didn’t pack like I was going on a camping trip. I had three suits just in case and a bunch or ordinary everyday clothes. I probably would have been ok with half the gear, but you never know when a spilled drink or a rip may happen. Than backup plans are needed. It’s always good to have a plan B or even C. Lol

Hmm, for me it's not when I travel but when we're coming back. We go to visit family abroad and there are some goodies there you just can't find in America. So we end up bringing like 4 extra suitcases full of dishes and food and such. I usually only bring a backpack or small carry-on no matter how far we're staying. From 1 week to 3 months xD

I went to Hawaii and came back a few days before the lockdown in March 2020. I only packed my backpack and put a bare minimum of clothes

Ah man, we just went out for reclaimed wilderness clearing today.

We overpacked (is how it looked) but nearly all of it ended up being necessary.

The outrageous amount of food was all eaten, all the liquids were drank and bottles emptied, all the spare clothes was used because everyone got exhausted, sweaty and cold (classic get and work all day under sun, leave in evening with freezing wind drying your sweat), the paper was good for cleaning messes and of course, all the working tools saw use from smallest to biggest.

I agree with @Cutter Masterson on the opinion one can never be too prepared compared to possible regrets.

Prepare for the apocalypse and zombies. :p

Jk. Its to be prepare ourselves in case something goes wrong. Like true example. A vacation that was supposed hot and sunny turned up with some unexpected days of rain. Good thing pack but variety of clothing. And extra clothing if wet, dirty, etc, so don't have spend on extra expensive souvenir shirts. Also bc some places may close earlier than expected. Though it is best not to overdo packing; not moving, just temporarily visiting a place.
