A question on Causation.



I want to postulate a thought experiment.



Imagine an entity, let's call the entity X. X is epiphenemenal, and has absolutely zero effect on the Universe. Let's just postulate that X is uncaused, so that it is purely removed from the Great Web of Causality.



Now X objectively exists, X is real, it's just that the existence of X is unknowable. (It is probably undecidable, a La the Halting problem). Now let's assume that I imagine X. I imagine X exists, or I believe X exists, my conception of X, leads me to carry out some actions. These actions may even be to test for X's existence. My conception of X may or may not be accurate, but let's assume once again, that I have accurately conceived X, such that if I were to describe X, and X were to become observable, the recipients of my description, will be able to observe X.



Are you with me this far? Now then, for my question?



Has X lost its epiphenomenality? As X become causal? As it become entangled with the Universe?

I would say NO, then

then you just imagining X is a cause and it brings and effect, it means that it isn't out of the web of causality. so X isn't uncaused.
