Anyone look around NU for a new novel only to be turned off from a description that lacks depth and a perception of what to expect? For example I was checking out Legend of the Cultivation God:

"When gods gather, lightning will strike and the earth will move. Immortals! Which of the numerous way to immortality should one follow? Immortals are hard to seek, but why should immortals hide? Heaven has no mercy, but humans have emotions, and these emotions hinder the road to longevity!

Train the inner self to stay calm, train the external body to be resistant, then cross the three continents and four seas alone, and fight valiantly with demons and devils! With the heavenly baton in hand, raid the devils and demons without any resistance! Take one step to cross nine stars and chase the sword in the dreams! Transverse a thousand li of river and mountains in a single day! The exceptional beings do not mix with the ordinary! Within the universe, where can one find an obstacle! Moving like a dragon, with talent like a phoenix! The heavenly Daos and stars will guide one’s the way!"

In all honesty I feel like someone reworded a TV commercial for some game like Pokemon or Tekken, and thought it was good enough for a description. The only thing it's missing is saying "Legend of the Cultivation God! Coming out on Xbox One and PS4 this November!"

The year of turbulence. A crisis of fearful energy erupted in the temporal chaos causing all the gods to temporarily lose their power and forced to arrive in the mortal world as saints.

This is the most chaotic time in history, having both unpredictable dangers & opportunities; formidable God’s and humble God’s, there was chaotic fighting everywhere whilst confusion spread throughout the universe. Gods were as common as dogs, and death walked everywhere.

In this time of unprecedented turmoil across the world, a youth named Suǒ Lun starts his travel.

Abyss Domination is a bit like that

Theyre designed as hooks not as plot summaries...

Can we not have NU Mods who give proper descriptions on novels which have none? Or even user descriptions which have received moderator approval?

Rather than I hook, I feel like I need to pre-order something

...uh, I'm not confident I can write anything better (w/o spoiling) and plus I don't read those novels. the translator should write (a better) one. Why should we have to?

Again, it can even be users. I just think there are some great novels out there which are being passed up on because of a lacking and unappealing description.

Loltz, I usually don't even look at descriptions. Tags and quick look at ratings works best.

NU follows the translator's stuff. Their title and synopsis. there will always be a case where the translator doesn't like it.

    >_> that is...kinda inaccurate.

Those blurbs really are advertisements, they are often translated by the translator from the source site.

Which is why sometimes I rely on the reviews to get a gist of the story.

Tags are not always good for reference as some people mess with them. You should not rely on them

Furthermore most of the descriptions are the ones that the translator TRANSLATED from the SOURCE

Most users probably can't think of something appealing to write or are just too lazy to do so.

    Yeah, what @Random said

I would definitely be on board, and even read new novels to give them proper descriptions

Honestly, whether or not you read the description/summary doesn't make a difference.
But when you choose to read the novel to know more, then that is when you can decide whether the description was needless text or was indeed very accurate in its writing.

For me an appealing description of the novel is what hooks me in usually, either that or reviews with a proper description.

But usually it's the description and tags which allow readers to know whether or not it's something they would enjoy. It's the same with game advertisements, the description they give on tv is what attracts buyers.

You have a point however remember a certain thread regarding troll/fake tags? So honestly, in my opinion, you should just give any novel a try if it even interests you a bit. I don't know about you, but that is what I usually do to avoid missing out on hidden gems.
