Has a novel ever made you pissed off enough to make you drop it(for any reason), Yet still managed to later pique your interest and out of curiosity made you go back to it later to finish it off/catch up to the translation/finish the series.

feel free to discuss below just please no uncouth comments dont want the thread closed due to rage comments after all.

No I usually just drop the novel because it became boring I don't really care about what the mc does as long as I feel it's interesting and not boring. Well chu feng is a different case...

This happens more often in anime for me(e.g. Sword Art and Food Wars).

For novels, the it would have to be Close Combat Mage.
    http://www.novelupdates.com/series/close-combat-mage/

In general, I tend to stick with stories till the end regardless unless the authors start abusing the characters (such as almost blind sided betrayals) or calling characters that have been developed for 100+ chapters as minor, pointless, support characters.

Edit: Started reading CCM again after calming down and see what the author's "real" story was about. Basically turned into hero's journey (e.g. One Piece) which I am okay with. Now author is starting to correct his earlier statement about those minor side characters.

I dropped death march around the time he got the 2 sisters as slaves cos I got a bit bored. Reading it second time round it's become one of my favourite. It's easy going and quite fun to read

For me it was Skyfire Avenue. It didn't piss me off or anything i just got the wrong impression from it and didn't give it a chance past 2 chapters... i was pretty wrong about it. I went back later to give it another chance and was it ever good.

I also dropped ISSTH after the first 25 chapters because it was so boring and i figured it'd just be a story about 1 cheat item, came back to it after it reached about 330 chapters and man was that ever a good decision. It is one of my favorites now.

When I drop novels, there's a finality to the decision. There's a few I've temporarily put on hold, because I've forgotten to read them, (Right now I'm urgently needing to catch up on Sevens and Xian Ni is just on hold cuz of the new TN), but otherwise i read what I read.

Nope. Never happened to me. There have been novels which made me cringe, so I drop it for a while for the cringe to leave, but I always planned to read those novels after a few days again.

Occasionally, I try reading the latest chapters of the novels I've dropped, to see if it interests me enough to pick it. Never worked.

When I drop a novel it's generally the end. Too many books I want to read, there's no second chance.
