@lychee strikes again with another useless, morbid, and ethically questionable philosophical poll! :blobhero:

The government researcher from last time makes a return and hits up a conversation with you:

"You see, at our government program, we believe in the teachings of Charles Darwin and strive for the continued further evolution of the human race for favorable and advantageous human attributes.

For instance, with current medical technology, we can systematically identify people with bad genes and those prone to heritable diseases and undesirable features. Previous societies in history have performed eugenics programs in attempt to eliminate these less favorable people... but you see, performing mass-genocide isn't exactly popular in the modern era.

Therefore, we've recently come up with a much more "civilized" approach to achieve the goal of continued human evolution that might be more... palatable to modern society. That is: we will offer you a large sum money in exchange for permanently sterilizing your biological fertility.

Don't worry. The medical procedure is extremely safe and quick. You'll be able to go back to your life exactly the same as you were previously living it, there's no pills or anything you need to take, and nothing will look different or behave differently from before aside from the fact you will never be able to have babies.

Oh, and you're not eligible for this deal if you've already had kids, or previously banked sperm/eggs. Sorry! You're also not eligible if we do a medical test and find out you're infertile in the first place. In addition, if we ever find out that you somehow managed to reverse the procedure, we're sending the secret police after you! Life in prison! Also, if this is your only opportunity to decide. If you say "no" now, you will never get this opportunity again.

Now, does this sound interesting to you?

If yes, please name your asking price!

But I'll warn you, if I think your offer is too high or unreasonable, I'll reject it and walk away on the spot, and you'll lose your one chance at a pretty large sum of money. I'm not interested in negotiations! Keep your offer as low as possible or else it's no deal! You only got one shot!

Your survey is way too spread out for the data to be interpretable, you should merge some of those options

This is how the human race will die. Not just by nukes and unnecessary wars. But also removing the power of adaptability via neutering ourselves.

The only effect is fertility and not complete loss of function, right?

I'd say 2-4 million. I don't believe my genes are super or anything (not terribly ugly nor obese considering my sedentary life style and poor diet, I personally don't believe intellect or talent are wholly genetic traits) but it's still asking to take my genes out of the pool entirely. I could see asking for a lot more.

    Yup! Basically!

Which is exactly why it's ethically questionable to some extent!

It's kind of intentionally spread out because I didn't want this to be like a multiple choice question. Ideally, this should be a "name your price" question (type in a number) that shouldn't be influenced by what choices are suggested.

Interesting.... so lemme get this straight.
The eligibility for this scheme is that
    a) one must be infertile or be tested infertile
    b) and also must be a carrier of various genetic disorders???
That brings a question up... that is, a carrier NEED NOT pass on their problems congenitally. Sooooo what is the eligibility exactly???

No, to be eligible, you have to be fertile, and previously never had kids.

As for the details of exactly what criteria the government researcher going around selecting people, the researcher claims its on the basis of bad genes. It is just a claim though. Honestly, you don't know exactly what attributes they're choosing, and have no way of verifying. They could be just like the Nazi's trying to produce ethnic cleansing through a weird way.... or they could be legitimately trying to eliminate cystic fibrosis. Who knows? depends on how much you trust the researcher.
