You had to mention that they're in a worse of position financially than me. I can't take away from someone i know is 100% poorer than me. If it was just a random person of any economic status then I would be able to justify it to myself, telling myself that it came from someone rich eveen if it took someones last 1000$. As long as I don't know I harmed someone I'm fin with it.
I would press the button because of the novelty of the situation. Though I would probably only push it once then go back to reading.
I'd push the button Also, it's more or less economics in a nutshell, atleast in regards to western civilisation Those with more money are able to "push the button" by lending money, and getting interest When you think about it, all money in capital market gains interest. Interest you gain is interest another person pay, so yay the rich are getting richer and the poor are fucked. Works country-wide and globally The button pressing will go on until the system breaks down or civilisation breaks down, currently it's breaking down at a north-south demarcation line with the northern countrys siphoning money and wondering why people follow the money
Making someone's life miserable for 10x the money isn't worth it. I would push the button if its 1million.
I personally dislike causing any harm to people. I'm not a pacifist, but i will not harm someone unless they directly harm me. It would be a much more likely case for me to press it if I could choose who it would affect, but that is probably true for a lot of people. In order to harm others, rather than an amount for me, i would require that the amount that it takes from them be pocket change for me. in other words, the amount I normally keep in my pocket which is about 8-12 dollars since i rarely carry cash. Finally I don't make most of my choices based how they affect me, but how they affect those around me.it's one thing if I'm playing a game, but not IRL.
I also watched that movie x_x If everyone in my country had that button then we'd soon stop using money and return to bartering xD money would lose its value as any money you may have atm may disappear at any instant, regardless of how much you accumulate, as everyone would be pressing the button like savages. Because it's like a dream, right? For money to land in your hands without any 'visible' consequences. The rich would become richer and the poor, poorer so fast... That the masses would all return to bartering, lol. I chose 'no' because I'd feel much too guilty. I wouldn't like to be in the reverse situation so I won't do that to someone else.
I felt like it was an especially salient simulation of reality. More often than not, when you are able to benefit from someone at the expense of another, it is usually on people weaker than yourself.
I'm going to have to disagree. I won't push the button. If you are not doing it in front of their face, it kind of takes away all the joy...
I won't push the button, If I do, that is indirectly stealing money from others and I would be in cahoots with that fucking government researcher. Besides, I only get 10% while the researcher has 90%? What the f*ck is that? A TAX? F*CK THEM.
I wouldn't. It's not about being seen or not, but at least I still have some moral to not harm another peoples just for my own benefit. Just imagine if you're in the victims position, does that seems fair to you? Some of you may doesn't care, but just so you know that I still have a heart for not doing it
I'd push the button, unfortunately I'm not a nice person and as long as it benefits me and brings no risks, I'll take it without any guilt
$100 - Something I can just burn at a gacha and not even get what I want. $1000 - Something poorer families need just to survive. Lotteries and casinos are great examples of this thought experiment.
Despite what we claim here, most of us would. Because that's how we are as a species. We didn't get where we are by playing nice. The history of humanity has been paved with the blood, sweat and tears of the weak and the powerless. This is the fundamental underpinning of a capitalistic society. You need someone to lose for you to gain. And it is never proportional
Never... when you pushed that button once, you will never know when will you push it again to gain that amount of money, even if it is small or large amount of money it doesn't matter.. you might get addicted to it and nonchalantly press it if you need a money..
taking from a person who is at a less fortunate economic status than me? hell no! if taking from someone rich that gain their fortune from crime? hell yes!
No. For me, the benefit does not outweigh the loss at all. That's $900 disappearing somewhere and is a bad deal if you look at the big picture unless that $100 is used to do something that has the value of $1000 that benefits both us. Also, that's a dick move. Maybe you do it for a good cause but it's still a dick move. Supplementary Answers: 1. Yes, the monetary value does matter. If im going to basically take money from someone, the money I recieve better be higher than the amount taken away. 2. None. It's a deal that makes money disappear and only gives you a small amount. Not worth at all. 3. Maybe, maybe not. I don't remember any right now. 4. That's kind of an unfair question. I dont even know what kind of people they are. However, most would not press it due to the pressures of society. You'd be surprised at the amount of pressure society puts on how you can behave. 5. Let them push it. Sooner or later all of the money in our country will be gone and we'd have to print more money, make a new economy, or make a new currency system. A solution? Easy answer: Make a world without need of money. Personal Hard Solution: Get rid of everyone that has no actual purpose. Unite all nations and resources. Control access of resources through merit. Nurture talents. Advocate progress and advance technology. Rinse and repeat. This is just my views.
I think it’s hard to say. Even if you take the results of this poll, even if a lot (or even a majority of the people) are “nice” and play by the rules, it only takes a handful of people who are eager to steal to make a big impact on society as a whole.
