Revolution!!!!!! You were transmigrated to an isekai universe undergoing the equivalent of the French Revolution.

The monarchy is being overthrown ands lots of heads are rolling.

Currently, the dominant political power in society favors a poll democracy.

A “poll democracy” is a hypothetical system of government that has features of both a republic and pure democracy.

It is republican in the sense that there are elected representatives who sit in the legislature and congress. Their job is to take care of the mundane details of writing laws and drafting proposals.

It is democratic in the sense that elected representatives can submit a poll to the country to be publicly voted on if 30% of the legislature approves of the poll question.

The poll is a mandate. The legislature is obligated by law to implement the results of the poll.

In the case there are multiple conflicting poll results, the poll with more support (by percentage points) takes precedence. The Supreme Court has the added responsibility of interpreting poll results to determine if the legislature still has a “mandate” to pass certain laws.

Every law that passes through Congress is required to have a poll vote. Passing the poll vote is required to pass the bill.

The polls are administrated magically. Every citizen has a magical poll portal that allows them to see what polls are being voted on for the day. Citizens can choose to vote or abstain on each poll, and they can read the text of new laws being passed.

Most citizens generally choose to not vote — although if it is a subject they care about, they will often log into the poll portal to vote. The media usually does a good job at summarizing if there are important poll votes happening.

The Poll Democracy Party wishes to know if you support this system of government... through a poll.

    1. Thoughts on a poll democracy?

    2. What are the weaknesses of this system? What are the strengths?

    3. What would you do if you lived during a period of political revolution? Would you go-with-the-flow with whatever people came up with?

    4. Do you trust majority rule?

    5. Do you believe in “democratic values”?

If I'm op and they mesh with me I'd crush their government itself, don't matter what style of governing is used

A lot of the polls are quasi-political, but this particular poll is fake politics.

I don’t think there is currently anybody significant in the world who seriously supports a “poll democracy” — so it exists only in the realm of a hypothetical.

So for me it’s just interesting to see what people think.

1 and 2. It's unnecessary. Voting on every damn thing will make everyone hate democracy. You'll tire the populace and force them to take drastic actions.
    3. I would flee. If the environment I'm introduced into was equivalent to the french revolution, I would most likely die. As would the large majority of people participating in reforming the country.
    4. It's a flawed form of government. No.

I do not approve. Too easily abused with propaganda manipulation. If the whole system is magically enforced, you're looking at NGNL except Tet is not God, the ten commandments don't exist, and the Elves took over.

This poll democracy looks like a Minority Rule. It sounds worse then before this French Revolution thing popped out.

Will I get cookies for voting? Otherwise I'd be way too lazy. Plus even if media summarizes, who knows if their summaries are accurate. Anything can be summarized to anything.

For example, a summary: Lychee is talking about overthrowing the government

See, the summary is quite accurate, but without context, it can be interpreted far from actual meaning.

Human stupidity? Unfortunately, humans fail at something called empathy and understanding. They only see things through their own tunnel vision.

I would slack like the lazy bum that I am

Majority will always rule, one way or the other. It's only a matter of how much protection exists for the minority. Or what sacrifices the majority are willing to make so they don't happen to be in the minority next time.

I believe we should be ruled by supreme omnipotent fuzzlords that are cats.

i think it's mean the supreme court have to verify if the "mandate(new poll)" violate some other law(other poll that already passed the voting)....

DOWN WITH THE DEMOCRATS UP WITH THE QUEEN! LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!
    2. What are the weaknesses of this system? What are the strengths?
The weaknesses is everything. This system will never work. People aren't informed enough. All it will do is generate hate and cause another civil war within the country.
    3. What would you do if you lived during a period of political revolution? Would you go-with-the-flow with whatever people came up with?
    I'm a fairly staunch monarchist~
    4. Do you trust majority rule?
    NEVER
    5. Do you believe in “democratic values”?
    I'm a monarchist~

    Example would be like this.

Poll: Should assault rifles be banned for civilians?
    Country: No (44.1% yes)

However, suppose the elected representatives really want to ban assault rifles and they wish to ignore the mandate. Therefore they sneak a tiny line onto a different law and try to slip it pass the poll vote.

The Supreme Court would be responsible for ensuring the legislature doesn’t do this — and they would stop the legislature from underhanded tricks like slipping pieces of a law that obviously oppose the mandate.

The other fun thing is that the poll democracy can’t even exist unless it ratifies itself — just like this poll.

I am for monarchy it is still one of the better options.
A slightly reminder that some guy know as Adolf Hitler was elected in democratic election.

The main point in a monarchy is the next in line inherit the country so they try to keep the inherience aka country safe.
In a democracy every 4-8; 5-10 years you have someone else up in that position who do not real care what comes after them.
