minor corrections to the synopsis and some character descriptions: Berta (should that be Bertha?): Eldest daughter and heir to the most powerful of the country's native clans. An intelligent and calculating woman. She has been serving as clan successor till her 10 years younger brother could assume the role, afterward she fully expected to function as an unwed aunt supporting her clan (she's 20 and unmarried ) She has no wish to be 2nd queen so she negotiates a price that when her brother is ready to take on the role of successor she will be allowed to return, given a title, estate and marriage of her choice. (Well at least it's not the rose colored life of an impoverished commoner. No idea how this would work) Her father: Apparently cares for her. She is said to be his favored daughter. The 1st queen: so far petty b!^ch mode expecting more to come The king: So far the obvious ML. No chemistry yet. He is indecisive and trying to be neutral (neutrality so far amounts to greatly favoring wife 1). Apparently very affectionate towards The MC's family is very powerful in the country easily capable of rivaling the royal family. As of CH 8 The hardship is being shutout of anything going on in the main palace. She has her own palace built by her family staffed with her own employees. Harold initially sides with her, Berta responds with a solid NO! Marguerite's a bigot and the child needs someone to look after him. Berta writes to her father about the situation, he PURCHASES THE EMPRESS DOWAGER AS A BACKER FOR BERTA. Definitely a supportive dad The empress dowager seems quite taken with her grandchild and has little love for Marguerite. What's more she takes Harold through just what dunce he's been WRT Marguerite. No deepening of intimacy between Harold and Berta

Srsly ? I don’t like the Ml at all and it doesn’t make sense that her child should be raised by another woman when she’s still there ?? Like it would make sense if she wouldn’t be alive anymore, so the 1st queen could raise the child but it doesn’t make sense at all if she’s still alive ?? Imagine watching your child getting raised by another woman when you could do it yourself and if the queen wants to raise a child then she can go and make herself one
Its common practice tho in imperial harem. Usually when a concubine pregnant and the queen/empress doesn't have a child/heir to inherit the throne. The child will be adopted by queen/empress a.k.a legal wife in order to solve legitimation problem. In this story 1st queen is the legal wife. They have the same title (Berta is called 2nd queen) but 1st queen still hold stronger position.

Lady to queen except the first queen didnt do anything wrong except be married to a beta wimp and will probably get a bad ending for trying to hold onto the position. Of course the author will probably villify her and shell do evil low iq shit so the king can depose ofer and he can he with his true love the MC monogamiously. I'd he suprised if the novel ends with a harem still in place Actually it's more like a reversed remarried empress now that I think of it. I felt that frustration out of my phone and in to my bones. But, I pity MLs like these though, they get such flack even if they have good sense in other aspects of life. Their EQ skills are just nill.
The first wife is not barren, it is just that she never had any successful pregnancy and all. The reason why the first wife is so favored is because she is a childhood friend of the ML and she is what you call, from pure Noble blood descent. Bertha from the other hand, hailed from the powerful "Ethnic" group. Their power comes from their vast wealth.
