https://news.google.com/news/search/section/q/wireless KRACK/wireless KRACK?hl=en&ned=us Long story short: WPA2 can be easily hijacked by hackers, which allows them to listen in to all your network traffic. What should you do? Basically, treat wireless connections (even your phone) as though you were using public wifi. Do any online banking and etc over an ethernet LAN connection. Edit: Oops, I meant ethernet.
I wonder if a wifi thief is going to find out I'm downloading a treasure trove of loli doujins and report me to the police
The hack only works if they can connect locally (my router craps out after 10m). If there are strange men in the bushes outside your house you should be worried regardless if they plan to hack your wireless, if not then the police will just knock on your neighbors door. And if you live in an apartment you are either out of luck or you are already stealing your neighbors Wi-Fi to skip paying your service provider.
Well Can't we just use a network monitor to see which device are connected to wifi???? If there are more than should be Switch off the WiFi
hmmmph. . . . my wifi can only generate signal for upt 15m radius. . . . and i live at a pretty desolate location. . unless he got an invicibility cloak or he can fly or dig a tunnel beneath the house. . . he can't connect. . .
just update your routers and encrypt all the traffic with 3rd party programs, if possible just use ethernet.
network monitor are useful for connecting devices. In case of encryption, the device works like a stealth bomber, its flying right in the middle but gives no signal back. Just listening and decrypting....
This thing is huge. If you have alot of IoT devices or have a smart home, you are generally fucked. Try avoiding WiFi in general as far as it is possible. On some networks it is possible to inject maleware into websites you visit, so even a vpn can become obsolete if you already got targeted. Especially try to avoid linux and android <= 6.x, since an all zero encryption key can be installed. WPA3 is not neccessery since WPA2 can be patched. Note that this vulnerability targets the client not the router, so check for updates for your devices, so you may not need to buy a new router if you have one that's not updated anymore, but check the vendors website for more information. If you have any specific questions PM me and I try to anwser them.
