I am looking any English novels that are published that have similar elements to xianxia web novels. Elements like, reincarnation, power level hierarchy, tournament based, and/or ascending into immortality as the final goal. (It doesn't have to have all of these, just one is enough) I am not looking for RRL ones or English web novels (from Gravity or other well known websites), but ones that actually have physical copies and not translated from another language. Bonus points if it is completed. Thanks
(Copied from a reddit post I found) Mistborn - Brandon Sanderson Stormlight's Archive - Brandon Sanderson Codex Alera - Jim Butcher The Traveler's Gate Trilogy - Will Wight Wheel of Time - Robert Jordan Raven's Shadow - Anthony Ryan Lightbringer - Brent Weeks The Riftwar Saga - Raymond E Feist Demon Cycle - Peter Brett Sword of Shadows - JV Jones Night Angel - Brent Weeks A Man of His Word - Dave Duncan Malazan Book of the Fallen - Steven Erikson I'd definitely recommend Wheel of Time, can't tell you exactly which aspects it has because spoilers though.
But wheel of time is a little boringin the start....I couldn't power through it...I agree with all the rest...
A Wizard of Earthsea, if I were to describe the story, I'd say it's a mix between Harry Potter and Coiling Dragon. Awesome stuff, really.
What? The start was the boring part? Not books 8-10? Those ones with Melaine, Malun, Mallen, Melawn or whatever there names with were the boring parts. It also has a huge amount of interesting history!
Divine Elements Blue Pheonix Written and posted at Gravity Tales. You can get the book at Amazon I believe..
I haven't read most of those, just searched 'western xianxia novels' and found a reddit thread, I think I've only read the Brandon Sanderson and Robert Jordan ones from it.
https://www.amazon.de/Unsouled-Crad...UTF8&qid=1489460204&sr=8-3&keywords=soulsmith read the first book and It was pretty good will continue on the second the moment I have more time
@Cien uhmm iron druid has immortality and being overpowered. mc is more than 2000yrs old. he lived in the time of the roman empire. gods will count as other op beings. no tournaments, but there are duels. thor is a jerk. wheel of time has reincarnation, but not xianxia-like. and if you read dune- that's book 1-4 of wheel of time. dresden files has factions, slow crawl to get op, he also says the name of his technique (via spells)
Does anybody have any comprehensive lists for anything more xianxia-like with similar cultivation systems (i.e. Qi Gathering, Condensation, Foundation Building, etc.)? Even if its RRL or similar with more than 50 chapters. I just don't want to start a series that seems to be starting pretty good and have it get dropped early on.
Maybe it was your reddit post? So far I've actually read everything anyone has mentioned. Unfortunately, my memory for books relies largely on cues, provided by their names. It makes it hard to search my memories for names. Tide Lords(series) by Jennifer Fallon has Immortals The Age Of The Five(series) by Trudi Canavan has mages who became Immortal who became gods(but that's actually a pretty big spoiler). Pretty much any novel by David Eddings The Forever Hero by L.E. Modesitt Jr. has immortality through science. I know I've read some reincarnation, but I can't seem to recall them. Power levels are dumb, so I generally kind of tune them out.(even the novels on nuf are all about how people aren't necessarily as weak as their power level indicates, or as strong.)
I highly recommend Unsouled and Soulsmith from Cradle Series. A xianxia novels by American author Will Wight.
