Yeah, they are not some victim. Let's not delude ourselves.
I thought that Qidian would not bother with female protagonist novels but I guess I have to rethink that
Given that they likely also own Yunqi, I need to drop both novels I have related to them.
Many might hate to admit it but Qidian has made a good amount of translators a lot of money. Their platform brought the exposure. I am sure they won't have discovered the novels if authors posted on their personal blogs.

I moved my main Chinese translator to Duke's Daughter a while ago lol. Got more translators with nothing to do so I thought female protagonist novels might be fine lol. I will just find Chinese raws of other Japanese novels haha

Seriously, everyone is out for a buck and not just a buck, but to bully and ripoff the little people. All us naughty folk won't have things to read if this keeps up? What will I do without my Waifu stories.:cry::cry:

Hahaha, you are overreacting. Although I have to admit that finding Chinese translators has gotten quite difficult thanks to Qidian, but it is not all bad. There are too many books to choose from and other publishers. Let's hope Qidian doesnt buy Zongheng or 17k haha
Well there is always Zhulang lol

    That's good to know.

It's also possible that Yunqi follows a different business model.

As Tencent owns shares of China Reading (QI), it also has a direct say on its business practices, as a shareholder.

Owning shares in QQ it can influence its business model with this company, but cant directly influence Yunqi itself. As QQ owns Yunqi, only this company can directly manage it. Still Tencent can put financial pressure to get their way.

I don't know if Tencent consolidated all their Webnovel properties since that Yunqi novel can be found on qidian.com.
I know QQ was started by Tencent but they bought Qidian's parent company called Shanda at the time.
Unlike US companies, I can't exactly locate their financials.
There is also Yuewen, which is another platform.
Tencent has their hands in a lot of pies

Already saw that coming, whenever a novel is translated more than halfway they use copyright law and copy paste translated chapter on their website to steal translators hardwork.
