The quality of mtl using Google chrome translate is astonishing 99% accurate now ! The only problem is that sometimes you won't get a joke or two only that's impressive improvement since last year now I can go reading on ncode website without checking the already translated ones !
Last time I checked (just last week), there were still a lot of mistakes, parts where GT broke and other miscellaneous errors, not to mention that despite their adamant argument on the contrary, any translations go through English, so it adds a lot of mistakes when you try to read in a non-English tongue.
I mean, some minds were broken by this evil... Maybe he is one such mind and so, little bit of improvement seems like a giant leap to his eyes~
google translate still make errors, the pronouns are picked randomly and depending on the source text, the translation does't always has any meaning (tho it's still better than deepl that goes : "it's better to know what it's about" when it doesn't have any translation to give)
*giggles* I suppose so~ Ikr!? DeepL is so frustrating! It just goes and gives up if it doesn't get something in a paragraph! >.< At least other MTL stuff like Google and Bing actively try to translate... DeepL just goes like... "Look mate, I dunno what this is, so like... Learning how to use the internet is important to keep you and your loved ones safe, alright?" Then you look at the raws and you see that it's just a bunch "[Character name] used her [Skill name] with the addition of [Skill name]"... >.> Or worse, just a bunch of random unicode characters that were put as a separator in the middle of the character... >.>
Well the cons are 1- you need to replace "I , he his, she her , you " with the right ones . 2- you need to learn about characters from already translated ones and plot and understand it a bit to go mtl 3- tons of brain cells to burn So yes my mind is already broken please fix me
It's easy, start to edit the MTL into proper English and release those chapters online for others to read. You'll recover your brain cells as you force yourself to carefully parse through the MTL'd text and edit it into a proper English chapter. I can guarantee the effects of it, for I started translating by doing that~
I don't believe that for a second. As Kakashi said, those who read web novels are trash, but those who read MTL are worse than trash.
No. If you think it's 99% accurate, you surely do not know Japanese. Google translate may sound like the translation is logical, but that's the thing. It's just logical, as in the grammar may be correct and the nouns may sometimes be correct, but the story would be completely different if you actually know Japanese. If the translator's translation is similar to google translate, that's a clear sign that it's google translated. If you ask a real native Japanese speaker who is also fluent in English, he would say, "What the fuck?!!! The original text doesn't say this at all!"
Well yeah, as long as you admit it it's cool. Though don't tell your friends IRL like I did when I was drunk. Showed them my reading list when I was into xianxia, ugh there is no medicine for regrets...
Nothing, they just kept their thoughts to themsleves when they saw titles like Immortal God Emperor and whatnot, it's just embarrassing as fuck, years ago of course. I'm not into that trash anymore.
