then y - y/2 = 18 + 13(adding 18 on both sides and subtracting y/2 on both sides)
so y/2 = 31

 

I interpreted 20 years ago as the condition for Raul to be 13 years more than half of tres. which means 22/2=11. 11+13=24

Tres = 2x Raul = 2x +2
20 yrs ago Raul = 2x - 18
2x - 18 = x +13
x = 31
then tres would be 62 now.

yeah there is some wordplay we should interpret the question as 20 years ago Raul's age is 13 more than half of Tres's current age rather than half of Tres's age 20 years ago
