    Yoraikun's Shield bro was awesome and so was Seven's Mr. Lyle.

    Truth be told, Yoraikun's model example of just translating without putting intrusive ads and not soliciting for donations. Was an influence on me and my decision to not put ads on my site or trouble my audience for monetary gain.

    Even if he retires now, I respect all the hard work and efforts he's done for the community as a whole. And I wish him the best in whatever endeavor he wishes to pursue next.

    This is too true. When I was translating on SPC many years ago, I had almost no viewers for the old school Wuxia. I’d spend hours on a chapter, post it, and see almost no reaction. But after four days, I would see a simple “thanks, great chapter, keep it up!” And that one comment would be what kept me motivated and willing to keep it up.

    Money matters, but support also matters.

    I’ve read thousands upon thousands of webnovel chapters across dozens of different translator sites - including some on yoraikun’s. Sevens. The Lazy King. Shieldbro. Konjiki. There are a couple on his site that I still have marked to read, eventually.

    I’ve been reading translated web novels almost every day for years now. In all that time, I’ve probably posted like ten comments altogether, across every site (NUF excepted).

    I think most readers are like that. Many do comment, of course, or discuss chapters elsewhere - here on NUF, on discord, on Reddit... but at the end of the day, most of us just read.

    You have readers like @GonZ555 who like clockwork leave a comment on every single chapter.
    You have others who either stock up or start reading when the novel has gone far and leave a comment on each single chapter and you end up with 100 comments in a week.I have complained and told the reader to only say thanks on the latest comment but I am human and vain and actually enjoyed it. :blobpats:
    When I didnt know about analytics I have dropped novels that had lots of readers but no comments

    Shield bro was the roots of my web novel addiction.
    And yorai kun was a hero that finish what everyone left hanging.. it feels just like yesterday when i refresh his page multiple times a day for new chapters.

    Gotta admit I havent been visiting his site for a long time tho with how ive been kinda burnt off from the cliche jp novels.
    And passing almost everything that includes harem, OP MC, cheat, slowlife. Etc2 out of reflex.

    A bit late to the party but TL'd novels from Yoraikun are from the earliest novels I read.
    I fondly remember Mr.Lyle. And for some reasons I can't seem to forget Shield Hero's incantations "I, who has understood the origin of power, the Hero of the Shield commands...".
    Incantations in this novel were so badass (and that's from someone who normally despise that).
