Don't you find it weird that in some interstellar novel (especially chinese) they described the interstellar travelling like they're on an hour drive away to another neighbourhood and not like they travelled to another planet/star.. I always get annoyed whenever i saw this. In one of the novel i recently read, MC was stopped by a traffic police on their way.. I know that this can't be generalized to all of them but.. What about space warp/jump? Wormhole tunnel? They don't exist? How the hell traffic police can stop them?
Don't reason about distance with the Chinese. They like using big words with little actual knowledge.
if superman can do it, why not some cn fictional work? after all is a fictional work, if they have spaceship that cruise at light speed, half light speed or super speed that can reach a neighbor planet in hours, why argue? Plus pretty much all sci fi novels that deals with travelling in space, like the novels that OP mentioned where people are capable of travelling between planets in hours also uses wormhole, warp jump but those technologies are more used when travelling between galaxies not between planet's in the same sector-galaxy, after all if the guy's are capable of creating a fucking technology capable of colonize multiples galaxies and multiples sectors why is hard for them to create a technology that can travel between, again, a neighbor planet in hours? like earth moon, earth mars, etc. plus about traffic police, there is very simple consensus between all authors , more or less, they don't stop them in space, they stop them in the harbor or in planet because like you said how the fuck they can control the vastness of space? is simple too much to cover, so they only cover important check points and places and this is why in space operas there is always gonna have space pirates too.
there has been theorized that people would need to warp by following certain paths, because the gravity of stars and planets would prevent certain areas to be warpable, this creates hyperspace lanes where one can travel super fast but are also controllable
yeah police patrol on certain sector such as, near important planet, orbital station, near warp gate (if use such tech), near pirate activity if it relative close to near orbital station~ da near is relative tho imo on star system scale~ it just like city patrol but on space scale, each planet is a mega city while star system is da province or sector~ hmm if must rant perhaps~ space battle feel like games perhaps? da ship goes pew pew pew~ oh maybe will re read gundam unicorn~
