I've taken to reading the 'google translate' versions of the original authors' content more than the translators' contributions. It's pretty easy to do. Just open the novel description page, highlight the 'associated names' with the original language glyphs, search google or duckduckgo, and it (usually) turns up near the top of the list. With Chrome, 'google translate' automatically volunteers to translate, and sites like syosetsu are very navigable and readable. Not perfect at all, but I can read the story. There's enough context to figure it out when the pronouns are buggered, or sentences say the exact opposite of what they meant. Above all, instead of waiting for a 'translation' (sometimes little better than google translate) spoon feeds a new chapter a week at a time, I can read all the way up to the latest chapter released by the author, and that author gets the clicks and impressions, instead of a translator. Many of the translators do a really nice job... but not all of them. I'd rather the real author get a click than some parasite who is begging for cash on top of their work. "Oh, I can read one chapter, one week early if I go 'donate'? I can get the other 499 after it if I don't mind dealing with some translation glitches." Overall, novelupdates is a great resource for finding these novels. It would be even nicer if there were always a direct link back to the author's official publication of their original work, in whatever language. Granted, if you've ever looked at Asian web sites, well, browser plugins to isolate the horrors of 'web design' are recommended, and a certain balance between 'breaking' the sites, breaking the translation, etc. has to be struck, if you're sensitive to menus floating on top of your text like poop that won't flush down the toilet. Maybe all of the 'training' I got from all of the people who 'translated' by copy/pasting MTL and not even editing beyond half-ass measures makes it easier for me. I'm not 'gifted with languages' or anything like that. If you're annoyed by releases like a 'Pitch Drop Experiment', you can read decades worth of 'translator' speed releases up to the point where the author finished, or is currently still releasing, all in one go. But maybe that's just me.

Kr, paywall too lazy to search more some cn using flowery world that can turn upside down translation, anyway there is funny stuff~ during 2014~16 cn pirate sites look bit different, later maybe they aware of google translate user there reminder about "friends" who use mtl or guest kinda funny~
I guess your just venting so here is what I think the issue is... Spoilers are called spoilers for a reason , this is very easy to do when you speak more than one language, but what do you do when you reached the latest chapter on the web novel do you dare go into fan fiction? The lack of tranlator speed isnt the issue the lack of content that you know you want to read is the issue. Your grasping for more shit to read and when you reached the end of your mtl list your just gonna find another thing to cling to.
Although current novels do end/slow down/go into hiatus, there are dozens of new novels being started daily. Between that and the years' worth of novels that haven't been (fully) translated yet, and novels that you read a while ago but liked enough to read again, it's difficult to read fast enough to run out of things to read unless you're super picky. And if you're that picky, usually you won't like web novels to begin with.
I don't think they're 'spoilers' when you reach the author's write head. What to do when you reach that? The same thing you do when a translator just 'stops' for half a year, and nobody else picks it up. Basically, once I'm three years ahead of the translation, I can always search up the novel again and see if the author added to their lead. They do. Sometimes, you realize the author didn't add new chapters either, and that the translation will become a dead end at the same point in the story... or the translator will give up when they realize the same thing. and stop the story even earlier. The ad blocker (uBlock Origin) seems to eat up the ads pretty well, and I routinely use uMatrix (carefully) to block off-site scripting, images, etc., which also nearly perfectly blocks ads. Zooming in until 'mobile' metrics also kills off side-bars (usually). Honestly, there are many 'translated' sites directly from NovelUpdates that are practically unreadable without butchering CSS. XHR and alien content. I'd rather scroll past pages of leftover, unformatted crap than have a single 'floating' menu or button on top of my text. or colored text, or other web design abominations. I hope so. I've just recently noticed that it's more comprehensible recently than in the past, so I was a little excited for the improvement. It's nice when I can get 'hooked' on a story and read all of it, or several times more of it, or discover that it's just an infinite loop of the same story in a few hours of reading, instead of discovering that over weeks or months.
