    Is there any direct way to read untranslated manga?

    (Instead of using Google Translate Camera function on one device and pointing it at a device)

    This is what my routine before I properly learnt Japanese was

    1. Google translate image
    2. Copy the jp text and run it through https://jisho.org/
    3. If google can’t read the kanji, draw it individually at https://kanji.sljfaq.org/ (check the ignore stroke order option)
    Select the kanji you think it is and just try your luck with it on jisho

    warning it’s pretty time consuming and boring

    if you’re okay with getting the basic gist of the chapter...just GT is enough. But I’m a perfectionist so welp:blob_catflip:

    As someone who already knows three languages and going for a 4th...it's actually a lot easier than you might imagine. It just feels scary and impossible at first. (I wouldn't know, but someone once told me that it's actually a lot easier for people who are already good at two completely different languages to pick up a third language. So if you are already proficient in two languages, I'd actually seriously recommend just learning the language you're desiring to read. If you only know one, I don't know how much more difficult it would be for you to learn a new language.)

    So, that's actually good advice even if you only said that as a joke.

    Oh, you know Hindi? I understand Hindi almost perfectly but can't read it or even speak it. I don't plan on furthering my understanding of Hindi either so I didn't include it among the languages I have mastered or am trying to master. (Well, also because basically everybody in my country understands Hindi so I don't find it to be any particular achievement to be able to understand it myself. In fact, my understanding of it is less than average here since I don't watch Hindi films. Hindi is just so similar to Bangla, our national language, and Bollywood films and such are really popular here too.)

    Yea, that's why I said "for people who are already good at two completely different languages".

    So, anything similar....like only knowing Italian and French, or Hindi and Bangla, or Hebrew and Arabic, or Mandarin and Chinese (though I'm pretty sure that's the same language)...anyway, I'm talking about languages that don't have the same origin as the other.

    I know 5 languages, thank's to my mother tongue i don't have any problem with pronunciation's, but the shear amount of time and kanji give's me anxiety. I do got a chance to learn either french/German/Japanese in collage. but instead of choosing Japanese,I chose french and worst thing is that, i didn't actually attended french class.its still a mystery how the heck i even passed.

    Ah so you're from Bangladesh huh. Well i live in India so i of course know how to write and speak in Hindi and considering you live there, Hindi speakers should be pretty common and indeed Bangla should be very similar to the local spoken Hindi around there.

    you........saved my day:blobphone::blobphone:, i have a huge list of manga's that are dropped by translators.I have many sources where i can find Raw's of manga's:blobsmilehappy: but no one to translate:blobconfounded:, So i had to manually draw each and every kanji using "Yomiwa" { Recommend this app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yomiwa.yomiwa&hl=en } and hope the app recognise the shitty noob drawing:sweating_profusely::sweating_profusely: {but it worked better than Jisho or https://kanji.sljfaq.org , yomiwa is the only app that i found which can recognise my shitty kanji drawing}.
    thankz:blobsmilehappy::blobsmilehappy:

    Haha, same. I thought French would be a cool language to learn when I was younger, and I had the chance to learn it too...but I chose to learn classical music instead. (I literally chose the one that felt classier to me, haha...plus, my lineage had an antique violin ready to be passed down and I really wanted it since it looked cool and I was never allowed to touch it. lol) Good thing though, I literally have never had a use for French in my life so far, but it would've been helpful for my weeb ass if I learned Japanese though. But it's never too late and I'm steadily learning it.

    Can't tell if classical music helped me in any way either...but I know quite a bit of German simply through the names of the pieces I play. lol
    So if I ever choose to learn another new language, I might choose German.

    Mandarin = Beijing’s Dialect. (Mainland China)
    Cantonese = Chinese = Hong Kong’s Dialect.

    (Almost like the difference between North Korea’s Korean, and South Korea’s Korean.)

    “In Hong Kong, the main spoken language is Cantonese. In Hong Kong, Cantonese itself is called Chinese and Mandarin Chinese is called Putonghua.”
