Discussion Real life and Xianxia!

I've got two types of friends: those who read books and those who read picture books (and it's not manga). I try to pull my otaku friends in, but they're not the type to like action.

I don't know why i should tell to my friends about it like it is a big secret... it is just a random/regular topic i guess

 

Anyone I normally talk with I also got some of them addicted

 

My friends, know Im reading "Novels" but thinks im reading E-Books. Even every time i tell them it is Lightnovels.
and i am open about my hobby but doesn't tell about it if they don't ask.

 

Eh. I got half of my friends into anime and manga (before I discovered novels) and now I have about 3-4 people who use NU now. Just not the forums. But since not all of them read wuxia/xianxia, it makes it difficult to make jokes about Mt. Tai abs people without eyes. And bricks. Tons and tons of bricks.

 

Everybody knows I like reading as I own thousands of books and ebooks. Xianxia and LN are just a small part of that but no secret here, if someone ask me what I'm currently reading. Still I find it sometime a bit difficult to explain xianxia when I'm asked what it is about (huh, a guy who... cultivate ? )

 

In my case it's only my older brother and my mom because my brother told her...

I don't really hide that I read tons of xianxia and stuff, but at most if they ask, I'll tell them I'm reading novels and they'll imagine whatever they want, either physical novels, ebooks or whatever. But I do kind of hide my anime and manga addiction. Only those that are into it know that I also watch/read them, but they don't know it's almost an addiction.

Today I was checking my email in class, and ny friend/associate next to me noticed the tons of notifications from wuxiaworld, and he was like, "What the hell is a wuxiaworld?" I ended up showing him the door to xianxia...

 

Good good, we have another victim within our ranks again ....

I have friends I talk about lightnovels with, but they don't really know about xianxia.

 

I converted nearly all of them to read. Yes, everyone knows I read xianxia. Other people outside if my circle of my friends think we read Chinese books and don't know what the terms are...

 

Everyone knows I'm a bookworm and anime nut, but only my closest friends care enough to know what I'm into. Recently my classmates learned I'm a fujoshi...and my reputation's been severely damaged. OTL They all go thinking: 'Hey, you know (---), that silent girl over there? Turns out she's into gay porn. So she's not as innocent-looking as she seems...' (I'm not into gay porn! I'm into 2D gay porn! WAAAAAAAHHH) Well, indeed my brain's rotten as f, but, eh, whatever. As for xianxia, only my little sister knows, because she's the only one who reads as much as me...Uh, not as much, but compared to everyone else... I've tried coaxing her into reading some, but unfortunately, she doesn't understand the appeal of stories about flying swords, demon lords, game elements and other stuff. YET. But I will succeed someday. *MWAHAHAHAHAHA*

I dont think thats a problem really. I mean its not like ecchi manga or hentai right? Xianxia is novel genre, as simple as that. Other like Sci-fi, romance, non-fiction, self-motivation, a little bit of mecha, or medieval fantasy, and what do you like? xianxia.
