    The Female Antagonist be like:
    We’ve been together for years
Your mother is about to go through a life threatening operation
Her last wish is to see her son happily married
    My dreams are more important
I reject three of your marriage proposals
You tell me it’s the end of our relationship if I don’t show up to get married
I abandon you and leave to go abroad

    The Male lead be like:
I’m standing on the doors to the civil affairs bureau and she isn’t coming
A cute girl standing near me is also abandoned
She comes over and we somewhat swap stories
    She proposes to me
An An didn’t bother to meet my dying mother who is very important to me
This stranger couldn’t be worse than an arranged marriage
    What could go wrong?
They start to fall in love

    The Female Antagonist be like:
    He got married
    It doesn’t matter
    He must still love me
He will always wait for me
Both him and my dreams were important
He tells me again we’re broken up
    It doesn’t matter
    He’s just throwing a tantrum
He shows his unwillingness to be with me
    It doesn’t matter
He shows his love for his little wife
    It doesn’t matter
Those years we had together are what matters

Yup. She hasn’t done anything to the female lead... yet. She’s only continually tried to contact and get back together with the Male lead. She seems to regard his wife as inconsequential.

On the other hand, the Male lead is having none of it and starting to see her as a pest while he focuses on the rather insecure female lead. :)

Note: Female lead may be insecure, but she has a lot of spunk and doesn’t take any of this laying down, so far. This novel been rather realistic in the way it depicts the emotional interplay. Maybe we will find out why the Female Antagonist is so delusional (past the years spent together). I am crossing my fingers that she doesn’t pull out an aphrodisiac later, as that would really prove his love for her :|

It's not that she made the wrong choice. It's only her who have a bad luck.

Just who would think the possibilities of an ex marrying a random girl on the day whey broke up.

So far the storyline has been realistic, which means that as a doctor she wouldn't do anything that will jeopardize her career. Being persistent and petty is fine, since who would think that someone you'd been dating for years would suddenly marry others. And so far, other than the reborn thing the rest are very mild if I must say.

also i don't think ML explains why he propose?
The antagonist girl want to go overseas for her.. Carreer or study, forgot which one. So for the girl it sounds like "we marry or we broke up. Choose. Become a single career woman or become my wife."

I was a little shocked to see An An as a pediatrician. I thought she worked in some tech or financial field, or even the entertainment industry. Mostly because I can't see her as responsible for another's life. Although it makes sense that Xia Feng and An An bonded over the shared difficulties of becoming doctors. She just seemed...frivolous.

And that may be my personal prejudice and reaction to her decision on going abroad right when Xia Feng's mother's surgery was scheduled. As someone who has sat in the waiting room alone, I know what it means to have someone there. You can put it off as she had to leave for a once in a lifetime opportunity, but there could have been some action on her part to maybe delay a few weeks or even a few days. Something to indicate how important he is to her. Further, seeing how she came back 4 months early, that opportunity really wasn't that important to her.

For her to say that she understands him best annoys me. If she understood him then why did she not understand how important his mother is to him? And how important he felt it was for that marriage certificate (even if it was misguided).

He proposed 3 times. So twice before he gave her the ultimatum she refused him. It was her choice. Once, you can put off on the timing is bad. Twice? Do you really have the other person in your heart? Third time? Sorry, that ship has sailed.

Yes, him and Yu Dong getting married on the same day that he gave An An as the ultimatum is unexpected. But really, even if they hadn't gotten married I don't think Xia Feng would have gotten back with An An.

    Ok, rant over. :blob_zipper_mouth:

    Sorry.

I'll go back to my corner and lurk.:blobpeek:

An An is super delusional. Xia Feng told her he was married, and he even told her THREE TIMES that they were over when they were overseas. Instead of understanding, she just treated his marriage as if he was throwing a tantrum. It really makes me wonder why she wants to be with Xia Feng. It can't be love because I can't see her capable of understanding Xia Feng or his struggles. I mean, she left him right before his mom's life threatening surgery. She refused to marry him three times. What does she want from him?

    You're right.

I actually went back to the first chapter to see how he was described. There was no mention of his relationship, only that he was successful. So he may have. He grew up with his father catering to his mother, so that is what he believed love to look like. It wasn't until Yu Dong that he saw beyond the action to the true meaning of his father's behavior.

I can see it as riding his tail coat, or hugging the golden thigh (to use the familiar Chinese phrase). She knows he will be a success and is not willing to let that go. Or again, he catered to her before so why is now different (at least in her mind). I agree with you though, there is no need to tell her so many times, in so many ways and by so many people that the relationship is over before she finally gives up.

Its because his mother is dying / wishes to see him happily married, and sooner rather than later wouldn’t mean much in a committed relationship like theirs. (Unless she wasn’t truly committed even after all that time)

Obgyn is different than pediatrician. The first focuses on childbirth and the health of related organs while the other focuses on the health of the child itself.

Evidently this story really gets me worked up. Or mostly An An does. Props to the author for writing a character that can get me this worked up and to the translator to successfully convey it.

I can step back and be logical and even understand some of her decisions. Except abandoning Xia Feng in this crisis. This, to me, is inexcusable.

However, with it being continually stressed that Xia Feng is a gentleman...I am not sure that he didn't explain.

While it doesn't clearly state how long Mother Xia had been sick, unless it was an emergency surgery (Which this wasn't), there is a process that must be completed beforehand. The process may be different in China, but there is generally a gap between when the first decision that surgery is required to when the actual surgery takes place. Also, just to point out, he purchased and decorated a home for An An six months prior to The Ultimatum (I feel this should be all caps for some reason). This leads me to believe that Mother Xia's condition had been going on for a while. As a side note, how can you go 4 years in a relationship without meeting each other's family? Especially when Xia Feng emphasized how important they were to him.

There was a week between The Ultimatum and The Wedding, for some of that week Mother Xia was in the hospital. An An reached America the day before the surgery (the same day YD met them). Given that it is a 15 hour flight, she probably left the same day as The Wedding. (This is in chapter 4 btw).

A few things to point out:
    1. It was heart surgery
    2. It has a 50% success rate
    3. A patient's attitude affects their chances
    4. An An is a doctor. (I will give her the benefit of the doubt and say she wasn't a doctor at the same hospital so she wouldn't necessarily have the inside scoop, but she should understand the situation better than others)

    You're right.

Chapter 4, aka why I dislike An An

"Xia Feng!" A gentle female voice came from the phone.

"You're in the States?" Xia Feng stilled, then asked.

"Yeah, I'm here. The house I rented online is pretty good, and there's even a swimming pool downstairs." The girl happily talked to Xia Feng as if they still had a relationship.

"Xia Feng…are you still angry with me?" The girl's voice turned timid, so much so that people couldn't help but feel a little pity.

    "No!"

"I know you're mad at me Xia Feng, you know that I like you, I just don't want to get married so early." The girl paused, then continued: "Is auntie's body still okay?"

"That's good! Aunt's surgery is sure to succeed. Xia Feng, I know that I'm capricious, and you can be angry at me, but please promise me that you won't be angry for too long."

Yeah, I can go on, but I won't.

That’s kind of understandable, actually. It also seems like something to sit down and have a conversation about before leaving for another country for months after getting an ultimatum from a frustrated and probably nervous and or scared boyfriend (both for his mother and not understanding why his girlfriend isn’t interested in marrying him).

I think he grew and understood it better later on. I wonder if he lost his mother during his first life due to this.

true true true marriage isn't something to spring up in a relationship after all, if they've been dating for long they should have talked about it before xia feng mom had to undergo operation. chances are mom died in the previous life and an an probably regretted that

Wouldn’t an obgyn have at least some idea of heart risk as well? One of my friends had open heart surgery in highschool, and her later pregnancies were all high risk to the point she was told she couldn’t chance another. This seems like a standard concern tbh. Childbirth raises blood pressure and has a lot of risk factors for the mother even in the hours after birth. I’d think she’d have at least some idea of it, even not as a heart specialist.
He wanted to get married and she didn’t. She moved to another country without clearing things up. That is usually and quite clearly the end of a relationship.
It feels like he discussed it and she brushed it to the side like the existance of his current marriage lol.
