Recommendations Rec me a novel

This most adorable hamster is at last out of interesting novels to read
So I want a good novel you can immerse yourself in and enjoy. What I want is:
Rich lore. The world (any genre really) must be very detailed and characters should have their own goals, beliefs, moral compasses, motivations etc
Plot with a direction. I mean not the sh- stuff where the author just doesn't have an idea what to do with the story and just throws in random events to padd it. The fewer cliches the better.
Some great mystery that hangs over the entire story and gets slowly unravelled piece by piece. Preferably complex and unexpected.
No harem, no polygamy, no wish-fulfilment, challenges to the protagonist and loses too
Actively updated or completed. Must have some material ready already.
TL or original, doesn't matter

If you can get over the harem/polygamy (though there might be hints of it I haven't gotten to any for MCyet) restriction I've been reading The Storm King (royalroad) and think it's pretty good.

The moonlit ones seem pretty promising.

 

Has harem and polygamy tags. The description is about a super OP dude and seems pretty cliche. No offence just stating my observations

 

If you have the patience Emperor's Domination. Though it is long and lot of arrogant young master tropes (which you can ignore) it's world is quite large and the plot mystery is quite interesting.

 

Tried but my Dao heart died half way through the nth time the was a needless Bitch slapping of some arrogant young master and his clan...

 

Mushoku Tensei
A modern classic and a definite must read for anyone interested in LN/WNs. It has everything you'd expect from a fantasy, swords and magic setting but the character's age progression is incredibly well written. Most negative reviews about his character usually point to his younger days but the entire point is to see how he matures later on. The story itself is also amazing, mostly because of the epic villain. And of course. Even though the author does drag the story sometimes, it's all worth it because that ending is the single greatest ending in the history of modern internet literature (yes that's a thing ) So yeah, read it aaaallll the way to the end.

If you're ok with anime, I'd like to recommend:
Zetsuen no Tempest
This has everything you asked for and it's delivered in such an amazing way. It's my most favorite anime too. There are smart main characters, no OP bullshit, a bittersweet but lovely romance, very deep lore and mystery, a few comedic moments in a dark and gloomy world, and no bad guys, everybody has a motive and reason which makes them clash, in fact, the main characters are the most dangerous since they don't have any motive, they can literally end up destroying the world based on some love drama of the past (which they actually risk doing in a very risky but genius maneuver...which is also very hilarious but the situation at that time really couldn't make you laugh. lol)

There is an amazing orchestral soundtrack, beautiful art with a dark and gloomy atmosphere, lots of Shakespearean quotes, and a bit of tragedy mixed in too (but not in the end, the end is lovely, the tragedy actually happens before the story but it still affects the whole story throughout). What I love the most about this is how everybody becomes friends by the end of it, be it enemies or allies, everybody ends up getting along and becoming friends...which is actually really wholesome for such a dark story (at least that's what I feel).

 

Should probably check it out then~
