I know none of those books but I guess you're looking for western fantasy books, 'Lord of the ring' style.

There's 3 saga I love and they're all quite long.

    -- Sword of thruth --
Really dark and oppressing story, the MC is always in a desperate situation during 80% of the book but manage to get by using his powers and wits, especially wits.

-- The wheel of time --
Lighter atmosphere and less gore compare to sword of thruth.
Really well written epic adventure of three young boys chassed by evil creatures and are the only one capable of saving the world.
Going from simple villagers to magician/warriors to army commanders.

-- Realm of the elderlings --
Long time I haven't read it but it's a big classic.
A bastard of a prince is trained to become an assassin serving the royal family.

PS: haven't read Game of Thrones, I don't want to ruin the show by showing me the inaccuracies of the show.

Jim Butcher has a great modern supernatural detective series(Dresden files)
And a great start from scratch, save the world fantasy novel, with roman based themes(names, military units,)
    Both Very Good!

Surprised no one mentioned Fel yet. One of the best, in my opinion, authors out there. Created several universes that are ,ignoring his recurring fixation for foxes, quite original. So yeah, all of his works are available for free on : http://www.weavespinner.net/worlds_of_fel.htm

I recommend starting on Tarrin Kael`s story, btw.
