    Well, this is related to the site and after glancing through the first post in the FAQ, I can't find an answer, so:
    How are the reccomendations in every novel calculated, and
    What do the numbers in brackets mean?

    They are decided via people voting on those novels in that specific novel's page. The numbers in brackets are the number of people who voted.

    it used to be random or tag based. Now it's user suggested and number refers of how many users (people) suggested/recommended that novel
