It's true that the main genre of this novel is not romance but it's still one of the major genres of it, judging on how many ships are actually sailing in the story, so the author cannot not have a male lead. Since this is a slice of life and a comedy, it's not going to be that dramatic if the story focuses more on Reika's love life (unless if author-sama wants to go to the extreme shoujo route). Yes, even the "not get my family falling to ruin" is just to have Reika a reason for living and make up decisions based on that, lead her to her current situation, but it's still just that. There's gotta be a character development somewhere, thinking that her family will not fall after all. After that... there's gotta be an after that. For the author not to point out clearly who has a higher chance of being ML early on in the story, is by the way, already on the 300th chapter, is going to make it harder for us, the readers, and also for the author. If by the end of the novel and she still haven't end up with someone or having at least a love interest, many people will be disappointed. Even if it is an open ending.
I've read up to the latest chapter of the story (been a YEAR ) and from my perspective the male lead position is heading toward Enjou with all the hints from Yukino-kun and various side characters. Enjou was also always teasing toward Reika, so I think if the author gets off haitus (someday soon, maybe~) then it will go on to Enjou and Reika's love story~! I personally see Kaburagi and Wakaba as the second male lead and second female lead in the story. Their story is the seeming alternate reality of how a shoujo manga romance will end up without a villainess (a.k.a. without Reika) stirring up drama.
I was just reading Daughter of the Emperor and the love interest was introduced really late. So it's not impossible. Plus Reika is a web novel and the author is just writing it has she goes along. So she has no obligation to follow any "shoujo romance rules". Anyway, the only viable love interest right now is Enjou. There is no reason why another one can't be added later though.
Enjou is ! And I'm not opposed to Kaburagi x Wakaba, but please no more to ML candidates! I'm already stressed enough with the two of them. And what chapter of the Daughter of the Emperor will the love interest be introduced? Because I just started reading that.
Currently I'd say the most likely candidate is Enjou, followed by Wakaba and Stalking Horse. The author's been gone for almost 2 years now, so either they have massive writer's block (possible considering major developments happen every 50 chapters and we're stuck at 299) or something happenened to them irl

I'm praying to the gods that the author is fine and don't plan to abandon the novel...it's been two year I'm suffering. Moreover if you guys think I think Enjou is team reikaxkaburagi because he always try to push the two together. Or maybe not. Reika and Enjou would be cute too ...

It was VERY popular. Obviously not so much now but I'm sure the author could still get a contract if she wanted to. Most likely reason is that the author simply didn't want to sign... or at least not yet. The author seems quite shy to me and as far as I'm aware she never interacted with the fans.
It's because it's in fanfiction.net or the bots probably didn't add it because it's pretty obscure. It happened before with the novel Chronicles of Primordial Wars and some guy translating a ton of chapters but his site was not well known until they added it in NU
