the super guild. You see, after the release of intermediate armor sets, all the guilds come to demand Candlelight sell them the sets. Everyone finds out Zero Wing owns Candlelight, and young master Feng nearly had a coronary.

The super guild politely threatens the MC, demanding he sell Candlelight to them, the MC massively insults the super guild, demanding 60% ownership. (all part of his cunning plan...)

So the super guild mobilizes their best soldiers to crush Zero Wing...

Remember that crippled NPC? He's now tier 2 wind master/swordsman, and he and the MC crush the elites.

Young master Feng who was planning to raid Zero Wing after their inevitable defeat, and all the other watching guilds, lose their moment of schaudenfreud and starts thinking about what would happen if the make enemies of Zero Wing...

resulting in a very, very wary attitude toward Zero Wing...and prioritizing ther guild's survival over crushing that incredibly annoying upstart.

Then after a brief interlude

in which we find that the super guild is actually in the middle of their own power struggle, and MC has a chance to acquire an epic treasure chest, the MC turns in the other quest, and hires Anna....

Who is even more OP than the swordsman...when MC walks out with

her in tow, to have her assessed(at the adventurer's guild, to see how powerful she'll be later) all the male bystanders are drooling over her...

They are a super first rate guild, not super guild. It's like being better than most first rate guilds, but not yet a super guild.

We're all familiar with Hajime's answer to such a proposal...Black Flame's response is as fun.

 

provoking these guys seems foolish if his only reason was to use them to train his own people, he better have a damn good plan or he will just get overrun with numbers.

MC can hire 50 NPC guards, because he's a viscount. But, each member of the 100 person clear team for the village crusade are now BARONS. So they can each hire NPCs as well. Finally, don't forget Mr. Kite. He's now Tier 2 hidden class.

The young master from Dragon Pavilion is about to have a very Bad day...

'Beat them with a bigger stick' isn't what I would call a cunning plan...or even a plan in general...

 

Napoleon: in war everything is simple. But even the simplest things are extremely difficult. (or was that Gustophus Adolphus?)

US War College: The main advantage of numerically superior forces is the ability to pursuit multiple avenues of attack. If you force the enemy to fight in a limited front, you negate this advantage.

Now that you mentioned it, this is something bigger guilds always try to do. So I guess starting small can have its benefits...like that independent team Midnight Tea Party.

 

Bigger guilds believe in Zerging their way to victory. (Human wave tactics)

But Conviction allows players to become superhuman...and makes a single expert equal to humndreds.

Also, items can inflict massive AOE attacks...

 

every time i finish reading this i think, "is it tomorrow yet?"

 

Fast forward to tomorrow, read chapters then rewind to now and continue with business as usual...

 

Meanwhile, standing on the street, Nine Dragons Emperor swept a glance over the army before him. In the next moment, he waved his hand and pointed at Zero Wing’s Guild Residence. Very calmly, he said, “Go! Leave none alive!”​

Interpreting this as offering all their lives to Zero Wing (leaving no one alive among them) cracked me up.
