That's probably what's going to happen in the duel similar with ashes, but i guess the question going forward is then the other witch's ability to make things stick could she have the bullet misfire or is it a simple counter to just be out of her range.

 

I'm almost certain that her ability only worked if she was touching the thing she wanted to 'stick'; I'll look it up.

In the end, she just is stupid. Though she may have some more motivation to apeal at Roland, the core problem is that she dont have enough working neurons to get THE clue.

Why cover it?
the chapter is just blocked by an add, its not like if it were relased only to sponsors.
Still, I keep thinking that shoting her on the spot would have been better. I dont know if a single regular shot will hurt more or not than a barrage of ruber ones, but the shock will obviously be greater if she is downed by a normar person, and I think it will also be more effective as warning. I mean that I undertand that Roland did it to let Maggie have the chance herself instead of just chosing a witch with 0 figthing magic, like Scroll, to plumet her outside of the magic range, but aside of the pride matter, I think these witches should at least be clear that they could not going arround doing as they like. If they want to have a coperation, then is the most fundamental of the basics to at least follow the rules of the territory.

I didn't get that impression. It just seemed to me that she thought Roland didn't properly understand her value. So, like, pretty much the same as those alchemist guys who thought Roland didn't know anything about their work or the astrologers for that matter. To them, Roland is the ruler who doesn't really "get" how important they are to the kingdom.

 

Man, I hate filler chapters.

 

Nah, I figured something like this would happen. While I do agree that I want the chapter with Iffy's acknowledgement that she isn't the hottest shit around, I understand why the author would do this. Give them an understandable backstory for why they become this way (looks like in this case it's going with 'didn't always discriminate, but ended up indoctrinated with the Bloodfang's methods and recalling the past with her dream' or something). Chapters like this tend to be common when impending chapters will have the character in question realize why/how they were wrong and reform.

At least, if she was going to keep on being arrogant and looking down on support witches, we probably wouldn't get her PoV chapters with a topic like this at this timing.

 

You know what the difference between an old horror movie and a modern horror movie? The modern has lots grotesquely visuals in the movie, while an old movie could create a story without all the add ons and still get across what was happening.
The same for Release that Witch, you could still tell a story without all fillers. If you must do it, keep it to one chapter.
At least that’s what I think.

I'm not sure if this is a filler. If you want to read what a filler is like, read My father in law is LuBu or read Bleach. In the former case, he's describing what Three kingdom history was like instead of telling the story. In bleach , the author just prolong battles, wars and character introductions.

I think this is pretty important, it shows how their war against the demons effects the social clashes and ingrained some mentality to the people. All of these people have self righteous background, it will be interesting to see how our MC is going to change all of that.

 

How do you make her backstory only one chapter and have people feel for her as well?

 

You make it a long ass chapter.
