What belief/religion do you guys have? This discussion is just to satisfy my curiosity, so please refrain to discuss which religion is right or wrong or similar since we are an open minded cummunity. ^_^ I am more interested in the cultural aspect, I knew quite a few muslims and live in a christian country (well the people here are not reeeaaally religious), and your point of view regarding it. Maybe some of you don't know the definition of a few (well except the 3 monotheistic religions): - Agnostic: a person who believes that the existence of a greater power, such as a god, cannot be proven or disproved - Atheism: disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of a supreme being (god) or beings - Buddhism: Belief that there is reincarnation and karma, but through enlightment they can stop the circle of suffering - Deism: believe that a creator/god does exist, but that after creating the universe, he/she has no further interaction with the created universe or the beings within it - Hinduism: a diverse body of religion, philosophy and cultural practice characterized by a belief in reincarnation and worship of many gods I am an agnostic, I am not religious but I belief that I don't have the knowledge to say for 100% that a creator exist or doesn't exist. There might be god/a higher being, but yeah ... I am quite content with it.
I don't know why you have a peaceful tag, when discussing religion. There is nothing peaceful about it. And that should also answer what I think about religion, and what I believe in or what I don't believe in.
I wouldn't say I believe there is a higher power, but I do think it would be pretty legit if there were. So I suppose I fall under agnostic.I tried the whole religion thing until it got to the you can't do this this this ths and this or you go to hell oh and don't question i either... lel
Well I hope that the people here are open-minded enough that they won't start a war. I am friends with christians, muslims, deists and agnostics and we are all fine with the belief of us since we don't force our opinions about it onto the others. Religions may have caused wars, but mostly people just used the name of their religion to justify their actions (except a few religious motivated, but usually they are the minority), the real reasons were for example power, land, resources, fear of the unknown, etc. religion in itself can connect people and teach people about moral (no thieving, killing and more - they are in every religion)
War is just tool to impose ideologies and take resources. As is religion. Acts of cruelty are not committed by religion, but by man.
