Discussion Religions are scary

Excuse me, but honestly im scared of religion. It's not that they are bad or anything,i would even go far to say that religion is a good thing. But the way they brand people that didn't believe the way they do as heretic, isolating them and treating them as a demon follower is really irritating. Using their God's name every time something happen is really creepy. When people suffer they would preach how it was a test of God. When people experience the best of their life, they would preach that it because the benevolence of their God.

Actually religions now a days aren't that bad.It's just that based on the history of the Philippines(my country), religions back then aren't really that kind. My ancestors were treated as fools and ignorant,yet they would still preach that they were kind and forgiving people. People back then were forced to believed what they believed. Well there's a lot of corruption and it was like a dark history.

Let me clarify, i dont hate religions but i dont like them either. I just wish to be neutral . I wouldn't disrespect your beliefs so please don't disrespect me. That's all...

There are more people today who won't act based on some religions viewpoint then there are not. Most people around me with a religion basically act like they're just of that religion in name only. They follow the rules or whatever, but don't really act based on it.

People aren’t as stupid/ignorant as they used to be, average IQ in populations is on the rise, the number of people who are blinded by religion is relatively less than it used to be. Doesn’t mean there aren’t any, there are just relatively less of them now.

That's probably because most people aren't following the holy books and are actually changing the rules and scriptures as they see fit, seriously, no matter what religion, people will do what they think is right regardless of what is actually mentioned in their religious books, which is really weird

 

Wow im honestly surprise that alot of people agreed to me. I thought i would be bombarded by catholics the moment i post it.

 

IQ has very little about religion adhesion or not,
example Sir isaac newton, wrote at least one book about theology, mainly christian.

the decline of religion has more to do with better education, free speech and freedom of religion, this allow for more discussion and information about all religion and the acceptance of lack of one

 

all ideas that espouse blind faith and authoritarianism are inherently dangerous and scary. it matters not whether they are religious or political in nature - at the end point of both is control over people, without regard to individual will.
