I think it's getting out of hand with the way people review on NU. Trust me, there are some good reviews, but almost a majority of them are people just downright bashing on the novel because it doesn't suit their taste. Isn't a review suppose to be about giving the good AND bad points of the story, not just one side. I literally checked out a novel to see someone just copy and pasted a part of the story into the review section without so much of an explanation. I feel some of these reviews are turning away people from a good novel that they may enjoy. I'm not saying you can't speak your mind when you're making a review, but at least try to find a balance. There may or may not be spelling errors, feel free to disagree or agree I'm open for debate on what a review truly is
Agreed. One chapter without much context - 5 stars One chapter with a bad tag - 1 stars I see these a lot. I don't think much can be done about these though. Maybe limit reviews until at least a few chapters are out
Don't even know who the heck tony even is. Is he some transcendent being or something. Has he moved on to a major world?
I thought this was already being done. Has it been delayed (like all the features that were to be implemented hehehehe)?
This is the current plague in NU... stupid and biased reviews. They aren't objective enough. But then again, everyone has the right to express their opinions online... even though their opinions are worth shit!
He's the King of the NUF harem. Who knows~ I think @Tony has been using all of his time to troll the forums lately~
HEATHEN! You don't know TONY? He is the GOD and Creator of NUF. He is the person who binds NUF together. He is the person whom NUF members love, adore and praise. He is who he is. Our leader... our god... our brother... our master... our friend. TONY for president!
agree. damn there's even reviews giving one star bcoz they don't like a certain character. A review should be balance from the characters, plot, narration etc. We should have a guideline regarding on this and delete those toxic reviews
A good example is this, http://www.novelupdates.com/series/otome-game-rokkushuume-automode-ga-kiremashita/ Two minutes ago, with only the prologue and chapter one ( that just came out), it got a 2 rating total b/c of one person. Maybe someone felt pity for that crappy rating and gave it a 5/5 vote just recently. Just a random note, I determine a person's intelligence and maturity through how they rate unconsciously.
From my experience, most of the people that review are ones that found something they really dislike, or really like. The ones that have strong enough of a reaction that they want to rant about it. Others who think the novel is "just okay" or even pretty good might not bother giving reviews.
@tocos10 for president! Any Tony is a genius programmer 10 y/old loli and an ojiisan with a very long white beard who is a lolicon at the same time
I don't think it's really necessary, or feasible, to stop people from throwing out haphazard or toxic reviews. It would create a lot more work for poor @Parth37955, too! .. Some sort of rating system that kept the best reviews on top of the pile would be fine... No need to go too far with it.
I'm going to be devil's advocate - that's what reviews are for. Reviews are subjective, and what you like is entirely dependent on your taste.
I kind of think we shouldn't even have stars, to be honest. I'm still not sure what they're even for. At best, they give a glimpse of the way the overall reviews are leaning.. but I don't think anyone should be paying attention to the stars. They should be reading the reviews. The decent reviews. ... The stars are just a distraction from them. The problem is that people don't actually give novels a try before reviewing them. A lot of the time, people will judge a novel based entirely on its synopsis, its title, or its tags, and not even read a word of it before giving their own 1-star review. That, or they'll read one chapter, decide they don't like it, and write a review that implies they've read more than enough of it to make a comprehensive judgement of all the author's many flaws.
