I know you said novel, but my favorite romance story is a manga. English name is lucifer and the biscuit hammer (weird name I know). It's a little longer than 50 chapters, but the story is about saving the world. Hard to give more info than that because don't want to spoil any bits. It has supernatural abilities ( animal guardian that gives you a psychic like power), very emotional parts, but one of the few mangas I've reread. The main character is a bit of a loner, but his steady progress is nice. Also one of the few mangas where I feel you get a satisfying ending.

But I can't give you the summaries but just try it maybe you can find one to your liking.
