I remember one animated movie i think about a guy and a girl texting on their phones while being light years away from each other. Battling aliens and staying on Earth respectively. That love story tore me up.
Nana has it's moments that catch you off guard Ef: A Tale of Memories the lost of love and a friend Shakugan No Shana a whole lot of self scarf ice Dusk Maiden of Amnesia the ending Elfen Lied don't get me wrong the story is a sad one if you look pass the blood and killing Blood+ if you saw the whole anime and did not cry once you my kind sir are not human The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya Majestic Prince this has funny moments most of the show however it has its sad parts Samurai X: Reflection Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom Lunar Legend Tsukihime if this line-up doesn't wet your eyes /i/ have nothing else to say
Pretty sure it was the girl who was battling the aliens. By the same director or whatever that did 5cm per second. Was knights of Sidonia sad? I felt it had its share of sadness. Fanfer in the azure too. Whole bunch of people get killed and I was not expecting that at all. The aftermath of their deaths is the saddest part.

I cried almost at every chaper of clanad after story ,the first season wasn't sad (if i remember right) Your lie in april was pretty sad too. Cawboy bebop pertty fucking bittersweet end . lol haha. that would be something if it made people cry out of sadness instead of hatred well i cried neither it was just bleh clannad and angel beats are the only 2 animes that made me cry ever. all the other stuff i felt sad for sure but it didnt make me cry
One piece is the only anime to truly make me cry tears of joy and sadness several times. Full Metal alchemist, Ellen lied, Code grass made my cry of awesomeness and respect. Death note made me cry game of thrones tears of fury, sadness, and frustration.
