Despite everything, from reading the manga adaptation as well as Google-translating the novel, the writing is good and so the story works and is interesting. MC is an older, mature man who is ordinary but smart and experienced(For example he considers how the laws and regulations in both worlds affect his activities and wealth and is knowledgeable about trade negotiations from his regular job). He doesn't get any 'cheats' but has to slowly work his way to wealth and power with magic and trade.
