There's no official English title yet, so I'm going by the translation done by Dramapanda. A new 10-minute trailer for the upcoming drama series centering around Sima Yi (Elvis Han), Cao Cao, and the last emperor of the Han Dynasty (Ma Tianyu) just came out recently, so I decided to make a thread. Here's some basic info on the series via Dramapanda and A Virtual Voyage. (Here too!)It takes place around the same time as the currently airing Advisor's Alliance, though the focus is more centered on Emperor Xian instead of Sima Yi. Basic premise is that Ma Tianyu stars as two twin sons of the empress, one of whom was raised to be a puppet emperor, the other whom grew up with Sima Yi. Then for some reason, the puppet emperor (Liu Xie) dies and his younger twin (Liu Ping) has to go and take his place as the latest sovereign of the Han Dynasty. Historically speaking, Emperor Xian's rule doesn't last; he's the last emperor of the Han Dynasty before the country is plunged into the warring chaos of the Three Kingdoms era. Despite this, our young pretend-emperor struggles to create a peaceful world with his best friend... English Subbed Trailer below! I am seriously looking forward to seeing Ma Tianyu in the lead role! All the girls look really cool too. >D
Not sure, haven't gotten how far they'll go in terms of historical events. But the Han Dynasty's basically on its last legs in this point in history, so there's probably fights. I did see plenty of battle scenes in the trailer, including one where they use captured prisoners of war as cannonballs to hit the city walls.... 0 - 0!
In chinese war movies everything is always so speckless. WOW It always gives me this "removed from reality feeling" Still does seem interesting
If you watch the trailer they do show blood, at one point a guy's head gets crushed by a horse. Albeit at long distance, but the red is pretty obvious against the snow~
Okay guys, we have an official airdate for this drama on March 27th, 2018! It'll be releasing 2 episodes every Tuesday and Thursday via Tencent. No word on whether anyone's going to pick up the subs. This twitter post has a new trailer for the series (mostly a mix of new and old footage). Also check out Dramapanda's post for new character posters! They match the original poster motif with everyone going shhh, hehe. A peek at one of them below! I'm really looking forward to this! Hope it lives up to the trailer, so---hype, intrigue, battles, betrayal and brotherhood. >D
