This thread is for study purposes, any responses is deeply appreciated Life is a huge gamble, every time you step out of your doorstep you would likely bump into stranger that would maybe have the intention to harm you. as such I would like to ask a few question regarding self defense. 1.do you have any knowledge of self defense? 2.do you think that it is necessary for you to learn self defense technique? 3.in your opinion should you fight? scream? or run away? 4.would act to defend others should any harmful situation occurs? sorry for the inconvenience @Haerether @Nefasdetestasti @Lemonfairy @SummerForest @Lurking @hayyan @Effugium @Daisydacrazy@Tilgarial @Flamer @Evil_Ginger @Fossil @Zone Q11 @melancholy @Svalinn @Nahrenne @Aquaa @Femme Fatale @Emmyy @4lf4lf4 @Osamaru @Cascadian Rex @in_awe @Donutmindme @Cream @Twilight Fox@Novetsu @Blitz @orematcha @An Anime Addict @Moonpearl @NUF Love Bot @Ophious @erichninja@leegood @Atti @Yul B Allwright
I took a semester of self defense in college. I thought it was a good experience, and wanted to learn more. But I’ve always been too lazy/too low of a priority to try to find somewhere that teaches it.
Self-Defense is a skill that anyone should try their hand at learning (XD And I'm not just saying that because I've trained for 8 years). Even if you think you're in a "safe" place, just the level of exercise it can offer is well worth it. Not only that, but unless you plan on staying in the same 2-3 mile stretch of land for the rest of your life, eventually you'll have to go somewhere not as "safe". What are the chances you'll ever need those skills? depending on your Country, probably next to nothing. But in my personally opinion, Its better to be prepared and know you COULD protect yourself if something happened.
Yes, it's necessary to learn self-defense to defend against this creeps who want to harm you.... or better yet get a pepper spray and kick their balls(if they are males).
Then again, I've always enjoyed things like Self-Defense/Martial Arts, Wilderness/Urban Survival and Self-Sustaining skills, so I'm probably a bit Bias, BWHAHAHAHAAHA!
It's good to learn martial arts for self defense, however just remember if you are a soaking 100 lbs you really /most usually can't beat a 300 lb person or kg equivalent, so run as quickly possible or better yet avoid the scenario
1.yes 2. Yes. 3. Depends on my basic analysis on the risks. 4. Same answer with num 3 unless its a dear relatives or a young children in which the rescue still have to be attempted despite the risk.
1: Black belt in Jujitsu (WJJF) 2: It depends who you are and where you live etc. For a tall guy like me who spends most of my time indoors and lives in a fairly nice area it's probably not necessary, but for a woman goes out a lot or someone who lives in a rough area I'd definitely recommend it 3: It's situational but first option is generally always to run/call for help. Fight is worst case scenario or if you have some specific reason to fight someone (in which case it's not really self defense at that point) 4: I'd like to think so but you never know with these things until they actually happen
1) no, except for the fact that if you stomp down on a leg sideways it's apparently pretty easy to break it 2)maybe 3)run, scream and aim for the testicles 4)i'd probably run and call the police if possible
1. No ( just things I've seen on tv but have not practiced or learned from someone.) 2. Yes 3. Runaway while screaming 4. I have no way to defend myself therefore it is better for me to just call for help instead of stepping forward and be added to the list of casualties.
The real question is, are you good enough to teach self defense? Because it wouldn't be funny if the secret technique turns out to be something like this
I have learned martial arts and am semi licensed to handle a gun desu~ i have not encountered a scenario where I was attacked mainly cause im not dumb enough to walk alone at night desu no i dont think its necessary to learn self defense desu~ screaming while fighting is doable but running while screaming is usually prefered desu being in the medical field im technically obliged to, tho to be more specific i am obliged to heal them, not stop a guy whose about to stab em desu ps @Pray Alpha im saddened u didnt tag me desu~
1.do you have any knowledge of self defense? yes 16 years of judo and 14 of kickboxing if that counts 2.do you think that it is necessary for you to learn self defense technique? not really (i live in village in norway... not alot of crime...) 3.in your opinion should you fight? scream? or run away? depends on the situation. 4.would act to defend others should any harmful situation occurs? yes
Yes it was true aim for the knee but i should clarify you'd still need the mass, strength and the training to pull it off.
And yes I would try to defend and while I am generally non-violent i am not a pacifist or non-lethal in defense of others if unavoidable
1. Yeah, taekwondo 2. Well, it's better to know than nothing 3. It depends on situation, but if I'm not confident I would better run or call for help 4. I would
