    Hi,
I am looking for an story where Adventuring Life is the main topic.
ie.: needing to learn new stuff, improving that, hunting monsters, dealing with loss, finding loot, going to new areas, advancing yourself, etc...

My best example would be: Ashes and Illusions Grimgar.

I would really like to have something where they are just beginning and not are already strong and OP.
Like Fullmetal Alchemist, where they were already very competent.

I also don´t want something light-hearted like One Piece, with all those Jokes or of course Slime Datta with OP protagonist.

And they should be able to kill humans if needed and not stand back and bent their backs all the time like in Shield Hero.

And of course nothing with "power of friendship" like in Fairy Tail.

if you dont mind non-web novel there is Planet Of Adventure by Jack Vance, also made into comics as the Tschai Cycle, its about humanity receiving a distress call from another world, they send a big ship but they are shoot down as they arrive, one man survives and has to travel the world looking for a functional spaceship to return to Earth and report his findings, he gathers companions of human subspecies (not furry, they are superficially human) and face the wonders and dangers of Tschai

There is also Everybody Likes Large Chests, MC is a monster surviving and powering up by dumb luck but once it gains enough intelligence to understand its circumstances its first choice is to learn and power up to be in control of it's fate... and to get the stuff it likes to consume and possess, it has a pretty awesome and subtle world building

Edit: i forgot to add Dai No Daibouken, its the manga adaptation of Dragon Quest so it goes in parts like a videogame: start in an area, get stronger, move onto new places to face stronger enemies, the loot upgrade is rather a small aspect but its there and gains relevance whenever they have to power up

There is an enemy army but the story is mostly about battling the generals and it builds up until the confrontation with the big bad who is a pretty classic OP wise evil guy with several transformations, the characters are OP-ish but the enemies all have special areas in which they excel so the chances of a character showingup and one-shooting another are rather small and the battles have a good set-up

There is also Legendary Moonlight Sculptor, MC plays virtual reality to sell rare items and support his sister and grandma so he takes adventuring seriously and is specially concerned with the loot, there are plenty of secondary characters although their growth is mostly offscreen but the MC usually has to search for the right way to power up his team of the week, since there are plenty of players looking for the shiny new thing to show off MC has to put plenty of effort into out-adventuring others

And some of the quests are quite epic

if you don't mind some older completed ones try Samurai Deeper Kyo or Rurouni Kenshin, which is more serious than SDK but not as traumatizing as Berserk.
I can't remember if there's much power of friendship in those two since it's been a while since I read them so :blobunsure:

Woah, that were a lot of Recs!
Thanks guys, hope there will be some good ones :)

Meh, I never feel any emotions in VRMMOs. And what he is doing seems more to be laid back?
Otherwise it looks acutally good. But it only has 100 chapters out and is abandoned since 18.

Doesn´t look bad, but I donßt see how this is "serious".

Only watched the first Anime. I didn´t had the feel that it was very serious. They were the whole time fucking around..

Looks cool, but only 25ch so far.

I was thinking about that too, but I would prefer something in an Fantasy Setting.

I would appreciate "normal" books too.
Looks okay, might check it out.
Already reading, but it has become.. boring? stale? Dunno.
Looks okay - guess I will give the Anime of this year an try :O, but it sounds as if it´s becoming light-hearted like One Piece or Dragonball.
Didn´t like it, the first 20ch felt like a slog.

I don´t see how it fits to my criteria, but I might give it a try.

urgh... it has the Comedy tag...

    Looks promising.
    Maybe.
Totally forgot about this one! Very good Rec!
Looks great! But don´t see how it is an Adventure. Not enough chapters.
    That´s nowhere available.
Sounds awesome too, would prefer Fantasy.
    meh VRMMO, might try again.
    meh, prefer Fantasy.
looks not very serious, prefer Fantasy.

urgh... how am I supposed to take these ones serious?

I have three English Origionals on Royal Road for you. Amusingly enough, they're all "Transported into an Isekai" stories:

He Who Fights With Monsters. MC awakes bald, naked and in the middle of a hedge maze, and soon discovers that he has a System. The System in this world actually conforms to the rules of the world, instead of adapting the user or the world to suit it despite the rules of the world, so the MC doesn't get an easy path to power that other's cannot achieve. While this story does have jokes, it is just character's playing around with each other and the story itself is fundamentally serious, with things like death being actually permanent. Warning, the first 20 chapters are not indicative of the story as a whole, so be aware of that if you start.

Azarinth Healer. MC wakes up to find herself in the middle of a forest that turns out to be filled with monsters. She ends up running into a hidden depository of a destroyed group of combat healers, overflowing with the secret herbs that were required for the sect to learn both healing and their martial arts in a reasonable amount of time to gain their signature class. Said class being Azarinth Healer, which the MC gains as her first class, and designs her growth around the self-healing properties of. Interesting story of an individual growing to the heights of power by pushing herself beyond the limits due to reliance on her ability to heal herself from her injuries.

Delve. MC wakes up to find himself in a forest in his pajama's, and accidentally helps kill a monster, which results in him gaining access to the System. An interesting story where the MC actively seeks out to discover the limitations of the System, while trying to exploit it to it's fullest potential. Different from the other two, it starts with the MC NOT being able to speak the local language.
