Arguably the first all-Black film, the 1912 movie "A Fool and His Money" was directed by Alice Guy-Blaché, the first female film director. Alice, her hubby, and a business partner formed a short-lived film company called Solax Studios, which lasted from 1910 until 1919 or 1920. The Solax-produced film "Shadows of the Moulin Rouge" had a limited premiere on 12/26/1913 with a full release just under 2 months later. For all intents and purposes, this was the first Fox movie as it was the first film distributed by Fox.

The Eng. voice of Olivia in OreDake, Janice Kawaye (DOB: 5/4/1971), was Gi in "Captain Planet". She is a notable example of an Asian-American/Japanese-American voice actor/actress.

-So, it was 15 years ago this Sep. 7 that I got kicked out of my martial arts school for shooting my mouth off. I have FB messaged some of the people that I knew there asking if they know of any web pages that lists the forms and step-sparring techniques we learned there. No response yet. I was there just under 9 years and was a 1st degree Black.

-So, in 1939 a guy named Victor Fleming directed "Gone With the Wind" and co-directed "The Wizard of Oz" that same year. Both of these classics were MGM hits. The cyclone scene in Oz was directed by filmmaker King Vidor, a great-grand-uncle of voice actress Emily Neves.

I spent most of the day in the kitchen, busy prepping for tomorrow. This year is a new experience for me, cause I'm gonna spend the day with mah partner and his fam.

 

Despite my constant posting about silent films, I admittedly rarely watch them. Hypocritical or similar, I know!
