Discussion Shield Hero Anime

So...we have come as far as episode 10 and still this anime feels like a slice of life anime. There was much hype for this anime but it clearly fails to live up to it. I myself am rapidly losing interest in this anime. It’s very bland and lacks all the excitements I was expecting from it.
What do you people think?

 

The anime is a let down. It’s not bad but it’s certainly not as good as an anime for shield hero should be by a long shot. On the other hand, Slime tensei surpassed expectations and proved to be one of, if not, the best anime of the season.

 

Because it is adapted from LN, I personally feels Naofumi is less sinister than his counterpart in the WN

I still enjoy it though, and also we still not reaching the first wave part

Well joking aside, since it is following the LN a lot of battle scenes are being pushed to the back.
It is 24+ episode right~, so expect a lot of action around 16+ episodes. With the 1st wave coming probably. And there is still no meeting with the queen yet~
Even though the naofumi already fight with the zombi dragon.

And I like this current pace too.

 

I take it you haven't read ahead in any medium. There is a lot of set up to do, and for now Naofumi is struggling to get strong enough to survive. Introducing Melty leads to a new arc, but there is a while to go to deal with the waves

 

All I can say is, the novel and manga portrayed the darkness a lot better, the anime just seemed like it just casually mentioned the dark stuff and then poof, it's solved, now on to the happy stuff.

 

It felt like WN was more action paced/sinister-ish compared to LN
The anime is adapted from LN and so, it figures.

Does that b!tch get hers at the end of the WN or LN? I’ve downloaded the eps based on the premise that this season will end with the full ending of SH, and I really want to see that b!tch get hers...

Otherwise, I’ll just enjoy slimes and Magi’s Grandson.

She dies then turns out she was some insane goddess from another realm who's the one mostly responsible for the waves so they end up have to have this big, huge fight with her and her minions, i think. it's been a while since i read the WN

The anime isnt going to cover everything in just 24 episodes.

 

I read it a long time ago, idc if it isn't dark enough, the anime is pretty good.

 

I think it should end (at 24 episodes) with second battle with Glass (that girl with a fan at the end of 10 episode) at Calmira Islands. Manga plot don't pass much from there. Worst case If they end with bishop battle and after effects (Returning of the Queen) but they will need to truly slow down plot progression. Anime is made from LN and much milder than WN

in WN Queen said that she put Raptalia to MC by slave trader. And some other scenes were removed... Firo with Melty with aphrodisiac for example khmmmm.... but at least in LN When MC comes to Glass world there he saved girl that Glass was waiting in WN (was heavily implied that she was in love with her and was ready to wait for her till her death at the of WN).

 

I finished watching the whole anime after it finished airing and is left with an empty feeling. Sure it's entertaining enough to not drop the anime but something about the final episode where some stuff is revealed is giving me headache.

 

The Shield Hero ended up being a decent anime. However, the psychological pressure although necessary made it somewhat difficult to watch at times. Also, I questioned the intelligence of characters when he claims to be the shield hero and people doubt him as if he isn't holding a shield on his wrist. Like normal shields don't just look like that so....?

 

Dunno for me after reading much more dark WN version and more mild LN one it didn't leave any pressure.
Funny thing though in afterword of vol17 long-time fan translator (he translated from 1 till 17 LN volumes) said that Shield doesn't deserve such good adaptation. Maybe because he had translated whole time and see those fillers... maybe not. And those fillers there a lot in LN...Some are good some are bad. Still, I like those Glass/Lark/Triss/Kidzuna world fillers.
And I don't think there will be 2nd season of anime.

 

Against my expectations there is news that Shield Hero will receive 2(!!!) new seasons. With this promo art with Lingui:

Hope those new seasons don't have an SJW nagging Flat-Earth mother-in-law who lives in a van down by the river with Seymour, a Chris Walken-sounding and silent film-watching vegan cannibal zombie moose.
