There's this popular author(website) we used the same surname to our main character. Althought my story of that main character is not yet published but that main character has been introduced a lot in the other books. While she has uploaded two chapters to her story. Now, I'm torn between editing it and changing the surname or not. But she has lots of fans and they're quites warfreaks and immatures. It's kinda frustrating that she's famous while I'm just a nobody that if her fans bash me, no one will back me up.
Oh I read it as it was a story you had recently started, and had made little content in. Really what's important isn't the name, in fact sometimes having a similar name could get you attention from the fans of the other story. Though really it comes down to your opinion.
On a scale of 1 - 10, how autistic are they? If I was you, I would still go with the name. But since you said that it may cause problems that you don't want then it's best for you to change it now. Edit: Nevermind keep the name, why the fuck should you go through that hassle just because of some border line autistic fans.
If it's a generic name, than it's purely out of coincidence that you both used the same name. If it's a name rarely used then people will get suspicious. But either way, if no one knows about you they really won't care since it's just a name. It's not like you're copying the whole story/concept.
Yep. Most of her fans are teenagers and immature, they really like to boil things up and compare that popular author's work to other's work
No need to edit it. And you already said you introduced that name on your other books, so if other questions the name you just have to point it out.... But honestly people bashing just because of that is really stupid...
If you've used it elsewhere before then I see no reason for you to change it now. If people say anything you can show them that you have not copied anyone and it's all a coincidence~
