or did ren just drop it after writing a one of story of the situation?

it feels kinda awful if all the WW translations just stay on qidian.

Most likely this one is gonna be a long one too.

We just have to sit tight and wait.

    Yup, it's progressing. Don't expect a play-by-play though.

Lawsuits will take a longer time to settle, and will cost more money depending how long the case is.

Also, RWX cannot disclose the details of the case 'cuz of NDA. Please understand that. Let the peaceful times flow, for now. Let's just rave when Ren totally wins the lawsuit. Also, due to a certain individual, indirectly, s/he helped WW by committing various rule breaks(which is pretty stupid because his/her boss is Qidian).

I think it's going to take months to get an update on vague info, and then about 2 years later the court case gets a ruling or something and we will be dumped with all this info on what went down.

Lol it was a power play by Qidan, they need more people to visit and stay on there website. They have plausibliity in rehosting WW translations because it was originally theirs.

Here's the thing, qidan is waiting to get a stable enough user base, which stealing completely translated work helps along, till they don't need NU anymore. WW Lawsuit is a waste of time but they need to go through motions to defend as not auing would leave them worse off. Honestly, I would have filed with NU that Qidan is behaving like an aggregator and should be removed from the site till the translations are removed. I mean...it's in the rules.

Either way don't expect much of anything. Qidan just needs to delay to win.

Yeah. The lawsuits and whatnot will take a while. Gotta go through all the stages and stuff even before it goes in front of a judge. The lawyers have to be gathered, briefed, and then they have to start going through documentation and the legal precedures in order to obtain even MORE documentation. Most contracts and the like are kept out of sight, after all. It can take several court orders for things to just get through the preliminary stages.

And during all of that time almost no one can say anything about the subject. This is iron-clad in order to reduce the risk of purgery and/or the convenient 'loss' of information or data.

That said, while such cases can take years or even decades to resolve, it shouldn't take that long in this case. QI and WW are not massive corporations. The longer it is drawn out, the more the costs, after all.

It won't matter. For one, the parent company cannot get directly involved. They can put forward money, but the whole point of QI as a subsidiary is not to lose money. Bad reputation internally is just as bad as bad publicity in the public eye.

Also, it is likely that if QI tries to push forward regardless, the judge will call an injunction against both WW and QI. At that time not only will the translations be forced to stop, they may be revoked and thus pulled from both websites. Then it will become a matter of public support, and QI has a very bad reputation already for its heavy-handed manner.

While such a thing may cause WW to 'die', at the same time it'll also completely ruin QI due to the inability to proceed and thus pay for the translators and stuff. A loss of even 10 or 20% of daily page views could seriously mess up QI's internal budget.

So it really comes down to how far the two groups are willing to go. Personally, I'm a WW fan. Always have been. It's like a chess match on a timer. Both parties have to make their moves and yet not run out the clock otherwise both sides could lose everything. Destroying a major cornerstone of Asian novel translations with a consumerbase as big as WW's will blowback onto QI anyway.

Aaaah~ There's just too many points going into this. Leave it to the lawyers and the existing contracts to hammer out.
