Well, they've gotta have changed their stance on that in the like 1.5 months i've had taken a break from NU/NUF then. Like, just take Qidian. Loads of translations are(or were) still up after they got licensed, like, Solo Leveling (chapters are gone now, but pretty sure thats on the translators end), Gu Daoist master (that one still got fan translated chapters up, despite being listed as licensed), and etc (i'd give more examples, cuz there are, but as i said, aint exactly up to date). You might mistake the translator taking down (or getting taken down) for NU taking it down.

    Off-topic tho, mb op.

Qidian's Qidian. Different (and stupid) kettle of fish.

JP LNs licensed by a western company are a very trick subject and, as far as i can remember, novels have been delinked because they've been translated and published legit. Generally, the main exceptions i've seen are like with Lazy Dungeon Master where there's an agreement (as far as i remember) between the fan TL and J-novel about fan TL'ing later chapters but removing ones approximately covered by the licensed LN.

Aside from that, it begs the question i asked earlier: Why are they TL'ing something that's licensed and far ahead of the fan TL? Lets put aside the obvious idiot answers about it being free and yadda yadda yadda.

Cuz it's been licensed by J-Novel and it's way ahead of the fan translation

    Just buy it.

I you assure the quality of translation is satisfying.

How i know? cuz i brought all the available volumes. :blobsmilehappyeyes: No regrets totally enjoyed it.

Because translator only translates what author wrote, they have no clue what is happening. Same as the readers since in a sense translators are also readers, not author's secretary. If readers ask translators things translators don't know, they should die.

Not like it's something to take seriously anyways

what do you mean for so long?
and what do you refer as "this one"?
    • the novel translations itself?
    • existing translation listing on NU?
    • the chapter with so-called 'death threat'?

If he was careful, then he wouldn't have posted J-Novel Club's translation and tried to claim it as his own work. Because that guy isn't a translator.

Which would also be why NU has already deleted the link to his fake translation.

Translating something that has already been professionally translated is dumb. Stealing the professional translation and posting it as your own work is worse than dumb.

in the translator's notes he wants to translate it to Indonesian but we can read it.
so where did he claim it?
maybe he bought a license from jnc and shared it for free?

J-Novel Club does not license out their work to random fan translators. The only company that they have cross-licensing agreements with is Seven Seas Entertainment. That guy was just straight-up pirating their work.

The translations of a licensed and published novel series. Unless NU's changed it's policy on that front? Also, where's the link to the TL policy again?

I don't remember NU ever had a policy of 'not accepting/listing translations of licensed/published series'. and i'm pretty sure its the same even before my time. What NU won't be listing, however, is copy of licensed (official) releases*

*except if it was by the rights holder themselves.

There's a lot of licensed series that are being translated and listed on NU. sure, some are already taken down by the translators, but quite a number of them are still actively translated. perhaps one or two of those titles are even on your reading list.

examples: (click on each of these publishers, and look at the release count)
